Warzone's First Mastercraft Weapon Discovered (It's A Literal Rocket)

A player has discovered what seems to be the first mastercraft weapon in Call of Duty: Warzone, and it's a rocket. Mastercrafts are special weapon variants in the Call of Duty franchise that drastically improve a weapon and add special bonuses. They were hugely popular in 2018's Black Ops 4 but have been absent since, to the disappointment of fans. However, Treyarch announced earlier this month that the special weapons will be making a triumphant return both to Warzone and Black Ops Cold War thanks to the integration between the two titles.

This is good news for a disappointed fanbase. Players have found many issues to take with the way Warzone and Black Ops Cold War were integrated together earlier this month. One of the most egregious offenses was the removal of double XP tokens that were earned during the game's integration with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. When Black Ops Cold War content was added, these tokens were relegated to Modern Warfare alone, snubbing fans who'd spent good money to collect them. The fanbase was so upset with this removal that Activision was eventually compelled to add the tokens back in. But that's not the only disappointment fans have suffered regarding the new content; many players think Cold War's guns are simply weaker than the guns that were already in the game, and have decided to avoid the new weapons at all costs.

But maybe this new mastercraft will change their minds. It was revealed on Reddit by user zhivix. The gun straps a large rocket to an AK-47 rifle, and the rocket is shown off quite well in zhivix's video, which inspects the gun from all angles and displays the flashy burning exhaust, a nice piece of animated flair that should help the player stand out quite well on the battlefield. The bundle this weapon comes in, Rocket Science, has also been revealed; it includes a legendary SMG skin and various charms and cosmetics themed after missiles and rockets. It's surely a fitting debut for a Cold War themed bundle.

Call of Duty is the epitome of live service, and this explosive bundle is surely just the start of bonus cosmetics that fans can expect from Black Ops Cold War. Activision's not shy about making extra money off of this franchise any way it can; to that end it's also partnered with Mountain Dew to offer free copies of Black Ops Cold War to players who invest in the rewards program on Dew's new Gamer Fuel website. Lucky fans can also win a new PS5 through these sweepstakes, giving them a great chance to enjoy their new shooter on next-gen hardware.

As exciting as these new cosmetics are, Activision still has a lot of work to do if it wants to reform itself in the eyes of disappointed fans. The flashiest cosmetics in the world won't save a game that nobody wants to play. Hopefully Activision is already hard at work making all the balance changes necessary to ensure that everyone enjoys Call of Duty Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, complete with whatever fancy weapons they want to shell out the extra cash for.
