Ubisoft has revealed a new launch trailer for Immortals Fenyx Rising, using it to show off the game’s story, as well as the humor that can be expected on its release. Set in a fantastical world based on Greek mythology, this new trailer gives gamers a further peak into the Golden Isle and the land of the Gods, as they are brought under threat by the tyrannical Typhon.
It has long been known that Immortal Fenyx Rising will have a more light-hearted tone than other video game titles, with a focus on fun. This is different to the other games that have clearly inspired its open world gameplay, such as Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Ubisoft’s narrative director, Jeffrey Yohalem, has said that he has deliberately taken the Immortals Fenyx Rising in the more humorous direction in a bid to give gamers a feeling reminiscent to childhood film favorites, such as The Princess Bride, where the playful nature of the story telling is married perfectly with action set pieces and heroic victories.
Ubisoft’s new launch trailer for Immortals Fenyx Rising shows that this tongue-in-cheek tone has been successfully struck, with amusing gags and slapstick comedy seamlessly intermixed with cinematic gameplay throughout the two-minute teaser. Zeus and Prometheus’ back and forth banter is playful, conjuring up ideas of a Laurel and Hardy dynamic between the two deities, as they take on the mantle of the game’s narrators. Even Hermes offers a certain amount of cheeky charm in the short clip, with winks to the player and deadbeat lines that could come across as scathing but somehow land in the spirit the developers intended. Most comic of all though is the reveal of the mighty Ares, God of War and Courage. Often depicted as a great warrior of immeasurable strength, in Immortals Fenyx Rising the once powerful god is reduced to a very vocal rooster.
Within this latest trailer from Ubisoft, fans also get a glimpse of some of the foes that will be encountered on the journey to save Olympus in Immortals Fenyx Rising. Minotaurs, Griffins and the hound of Hades himself can be seen charging down Fenyx as she uses her strength and skill to repel attacks in the breath-taking vistas of the Golden Isle.
Immortals Fenyx Rising will be one of the last new video game titles of 2020. Following the release of new consoles from both Sony and Microsoft, Ubisoft is set to reach a multitude of gaming fans with their latest offering. The chance to wield the powers of the gods and slay mystical beings is edging ever closer. Thanks to this latest trailer for Immortals Fenyx Rising, gamers will be able to get another sweet taste of what is to come before its final release this Thursday.
Immortals Fenyx Rising is scheduled for release on December 3 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, Stadia, and PC.
