As the last four all-star contestants are left inside the house, Big Brother threw yet another twist at the houseguests. This time, the twist was a luxury competition. However, the competition failed to impress fans, who couldn't help but think the battle was rigged. On top of that, Christmas' irrational breakdown following the comp only made viewers more irritated with her antics this season.
Big Brother 22 had a late start to the season due to the pandemic. Instead of kicking off the show in June like previous years, season 22 did not premiere until August and re-introduced fans to some of the best players over the years. Over the past two months, the all-star players have put their hearts and souls into the competition, knowing they are playing alongside some of the best. As the houseguests begin to dwindle down, Nicole, Cody, Enzo, and Christmas found themselves in the final four. This is not the first time these players find themselves this close to finale night. This is Nicole's third time in the house. Cody made it to the final two his first season, and both Enzo and Christmas came in third. Last Thursday, October 15, Memphis was evicted from the house prior to Enzo winning the HOH competition, ensuring his spot in the final three. Being pros at the game, all four of these all-stars know to expect the unexpected, even up until finale day.
On the day following Memphis' eviction, Big Brother Network announced the live feeds would be down for the majority of the day. Once the live feeds were back up and running, houseguests were seen talking about a luxury competition they just competed in. The comp itself was aired on the October 21 episode. The four remaining houseguests were not only competing to win a prize for themselves, but for a jury member as well. Nicole won herself $10,000, as well as $10,000 for jury member Memphis. However, fans were not impressed. Since the competition brought back the BB Comics adaptations, most fans felt the competition was entirely uninteresting. The players had no control over their characters, so fans accused producers of simply choosing a player they wanted to receive the $10,000 prize. Check out the tweet below from a fan who called the competition "rigged":
This luxury comp did not just bring cash prizes to the house. It also brought tears, and lots of them. Christmas, who took the competition far too seriously considering what it was, stormed into the house following the battle quite upset. She isolated herself from the other three houseguests for what seemed to be an entire day. Cody, Enzo, and Nicole were seen on the live feeds chatting about Christmas' behavior, stating that she refused to talk to anyone. While Christmas refused to talk to the houseguests, she did speak to the cameras. From what was seen in the episode and live feeds, it seems as though Christmas was obviously upset she lost the competition, but also that she did not choose to play for Memphis. She felt as though she betrayed him. On top of all of this, Christmas was very angry and upset that Enzo put her on the block. Following rumors of Christmas and Memphis cheating on their significant others during their time in the house, Christmas' strong, irrational reaction was a red flag to fans. It certainly didn't earn her any points in the books of fans who are already wary of her this season. Check out the tweet summing up the ridiculous behavior below:
Nicole may not have won many competitions this season, but it seems as though she was just holding back her fighting power until the end. Within one week she won HOH, the Power of Veto, and this unknown luxury competition. Not to mention her strategic game move of choosing to play to win a prize for Memphis in return for a jury vote on finale night. While Nicole is setting herself up for success, Christmas is only making fans more irritated with her.
