Instead of having a level requirement, Buneary needs a high friendship level to evolve. There are a few ways to increase friendship, and players can track their friendship level in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl using the Pokétch.
Before players can evolve Buneary in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, they'll need to find and catch it in the wild. Buneary has a small chance of appearing in the tall grass in Eterna Forest, but it more frequently spawns in the Grand Underground. Players can find Buneary in nearly any of the Pokémon Hideaways. Players can access the Grand Underground in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl early in the game as soon as they receive the Explorer's Kit.
Buneary is a Normal-type Pokémon that's weak against Fighting moves. Players can use Dusk Balls in the Grand Underground for an increased chance of capturing Buneary. Alternatively, they can use a Quick Ball to try to catch Buneary at the start of the battle. If players want to quickly increase their friendship level, they can also try catching Buneary in a Luxury Ball. Once players capture the Pokémon, they can begin the process of evolving it.
After searching Eterna Forest or the Grand Underground in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and catching Buneary, players will need to add the Pokémon to their party. Battling and traveling with Buneary will increase its friendship level, but there are a few other ways to quickly get the friendship high enough for Buneary to evolve. Entering Buneary into Super Contest Shows and having it hold a Soothe Bell will also bring the friendship level up significantly.
To check friendship levels, players need to access their Pokétch device and interact with Buneary on the screen. When two hearts appear above Buneary, then the friendship level is maxed out, and it will evolve into Lopunny the next time it levels up. Lopunny is Normal-type Pokémon that can learn powerful moves such as High Jump Kick, Bounce, and Strength.
Although Lopunny can learn a wide range of move types, players may find they want to get back an old move that Lopunny has forgotten. To do so, players should head to Pokémon BDSP's Pastoria City and visit the Move Tutor. With the right moveset, Lopunny can be a strong addition to any player's team. Those looking to add Lopunny to their team will need to make sure they find, catch, and evolve Buneary in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
