YOU: The 10 Biggest Twists In The Show | Screen Rant

Joe Goldberg has been stalking, plotting and killing for three seasons and the latest season of You contains more twists and turns than ever before. Even at the very beginning of the show, fans quickly learn that Joe isn’t the most well-balanced individual when he begins stalking a potential love interest.

With every passing season, Joe's list of victims continues to build, with some of them being more unexpected than others. While Joe does usually end up with the upper hand, the many twists and turns in You have seen him pushed to his limits.

While it's apparent from the off that Joe is quite sinister, it isn't until the end of the first episode that it becomes apparent just how far he'll go in his pursuit of Beck. He is almost immediately overcome with obsession over his potential new love interest and is incredibly jealous and angry about her relationship with on and off again boyfriend Benji.

Joe hits him over the head with a mallet and then locks him inside the now iconic glass box at the end of the first episode. Benji becomes the first of many to be trapped inside the box; but, at this point it's a shock to the audience and gives some insight into just how low Joe is willing to stoop.

Beck’s self involved and meddling best friend, Peach is one of the least likable characters from You and is another obstacle for Joe in the first season of the show. Unlike many other characters, Peach is immediately suspicious of Joe and isn't shy in letting him know it.

After he realizes she is onto him and is also secretly in love with Beck, Joe decides Peach must be his next victim. When she is out running in the park, Joe follows her and bludgeons her with a rock. However, this isn't enough to take Peach out and she survives the ordeal and is even more suspicious of Joe. Although her reprieve is short lived, Peach still being alive after the attack in the park is surprising and leaves the audience questioning whether Joe has been outsmarted.

Just as it appears Joe cannot be outwitted or outmaneuvered, Beck finds his hiding place in the bathroom ceiling. Here, she finds a number of disturbing mementoes including her old phone as well as Peach and Benji's phones.

Horrified by what she sees, Beck pieces together that Joe killed her friend and her boyfriend and despite her attempts to double bluff him, he soon realizes she's discovered him. As Joe is so cunning and meticulous, the moment when Beck discovers his hiding place and the phones is truly shocking and leaves viewers questioning what might happen next.

Beck's triumph over Joe is unsurprisingly short lived and following her disturbing discovery, he locks her inside the box. She uses his feelings towards her in order to try and appease him in the hope that he will let her go. Although she does get the upper hand briefly, Joe is enraged she tried to trick him.

Beck's final cries for help go unheard and Joe kills her, making her his final victim of the first season. As she is a central focus of this first season, her demise is unexpected and chilling but is also one of the most believable deaths in You.

During the first season, it is heavily hinted that Joe also killed his previous girlfriend, Candace. However, just as he has callously disposed of Beck, none other than Candace arrives at the bookstore to confront Joe.

It is quite a surprise to the audience that, knowing just how twisted Joe is, his former girlfriend is still alive. During flashbacks in season 2, it becomes apparent that Joe did believe he had killed Candace and even buried her, only for her to dig her way out of the grave. Her decision to return and confront her murderous ex seems a little misguided though and eventually leads to her real demise.

Towards the end of season 2, Forty spikes Joe and he experiences a number of strange hallucinations. Prior to this, Delilah discovers some of Joe's crimes and finds herself locked in his glass cage.

During his drug-fuelled trip, Joe races to free Delilah but is horrified by what he discovers. Delilah has in fact been brutally murdered which is both shocking and confusing. The audience are left to question whether Joe returned off screen and killed her while he was under the influence. However, Joe refuses to believe that he killed Delilah and determines to figure out the truth.

While it feels likely that Joe did not killed Delilah due to her death occurring off screen and the audience having already seen him kill many times before, the truth is more shocking than anyone could expect. Candace returns again ready to tell Love the whole truth about Joe and what he did to her.

Joe tells them both that he is sorry and prepares to accept his fate. However, in one of the most shocking twists from the show Love kills Candace and professes her love to Joe. She then reveals that she killed Delilah in order to protect him, solidifying herself as one of the biggest villains from You.

When Love and Joe move away for a fresh start at the end of season 2, he immediately begins spying on their new neighbor through the fence. The audience fully expect Natalie to be the new object of Joe's desires at the beginning of season 3. While she is for a short time, Love intervenes and changes the whole course of the season and takes things down an unexpected route.

Discovering that her husband is obsessed with Natalie, Love kills her and then forces him to help her dispose of the body and cover up the murder. For Love to kill Natalie so quickly is unexpected and instead pits the husband and wife against each other for the rest of the season.

Despite cheating on Joe with their teenage neighbor, Love is still enraged when she discovers he has developed yet another obsession, this time with his boss Marianne. Love paralyzes Joe with a poison knife and then lures Marianne to their house and while she does spare the young mother, she continues to taunt her husband as he lies on the floor.

After confessing to killing her first husband, Love prepares to kill Joe and bring their marriage to its conclusion. Love's poisoning of her husband is quite a shock as he seemed to be the only one she cares for but what follows is even more unpredictable.

As Love is preparing to make Joe her next victim, he turns the tables on her and injects her with poison. While it's not unusual for Joe to come out on top and find his way out of tricky situations, it did seem as if this could be the end of the character.

However, he tells Love he knew all along about her plan to poison him and secretly took an antidote. After she dies, Joe fakes his own murder and leaves a fake letter penned by his wife confessing to everything. Joe expertly maneuvers himself out of the deadly situation, leaving the viewer aghast and showing himself to be the most intelligent character on You
