Where Arishem The Celestial Takes The Eternals At The End

Eternals introduced a new Celestial named Arishem, who at the end of the movie, took the remaining Eternals on Earth with him – but where is he taking them? The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 is doing things differently by covering both movies and TV shows, further expanding this extensive universe, and on the movie side, it keeps introducing new heroes. Following the introduction of Shang-Chi in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the MCU has now welcomed a new team in Eternals.

Directed by Chloé Zhao, Eternals follows the title team, a race of aliens created by the Celestials and who were sent to Earth centuries ago. With time, the members of the team parted ways, but they reteam when their evil counterparts, the Deviants, return and an event called “The Emergence” approaches. The team is formed by Sersi (Gemma Chan), Ikaris (Richard Madden), Sprite (Lia McHugh), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), Druig (Barry Keoghan), Gilgamesh (Don Lee), Thena (Angelina Jolie), and Ajak (Salma Hayek), and not all of them made it to the end of the movie, and Eternals ended on a cliffhanger that left the fate of three of them unknown.

At the end of Eternals, Thena, Makkari, and Druig leave Earth on the now-repaired Domo to search for more Eternals and tell them the truth about their origins and mission, while Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo stay on Earth (Sprite, at this point, had been transformed into a human). One day, Sersi is walking around with Dane Whitman (Kit Harington), and just as he’s about to reveal a big family secret to her, the Eternals’ creator, Arishem the Celestial (voiced by David Kaye), abducts Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo. Arishem tells them he’s displeased with their treason but decided to spare humanity if the Eternals’ memories can prove that humans are worthy of living, and vows to return for judgment before disappearing with the Eternals. The movie doesn’t reveal where Arishem took the Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo, but the safest bet is that they are all now in the World Forge.

Most of the Eternals lived in a lie for centuries, believing they came from a planet named Olympia and that once Arishem told them their mission was complete, they would go back to said planet. Following the death of Ajak and Sersi becoming the new leader, she learned through a conversation with Arishem that Olympia doesn’t exist and they were created in the World Forge, so in a way, that’s their “true home”. Because of all this, it’s very likely that Arishem took the remaining Eternals back to the World Forge in order to study their memories of Earth and make a final judgment on whether humans deserved to be saved (even if that involved betraying him) or not. Of course, there’s also the possibility of Arishem taking the Eternals to a different location, but as little is known about the Celestials and the Eternals mythology, it’s hard to say where they could have gone.

Arishem’s abduction of Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo made way for the introduction of Eros (Harry Styles), fellow Eternal and brother of Thanos, who in the post-credits scene of Eternals told Thena, Makkari, and Druig that he knows where the others are. The Eternals' following adventure might take viewers and the rest of the team to the World Forge to rescue Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo and confront Arishem directly, though there’s also the possibility of half of the team being in a completely different place.
