A variant of Iron Man existing on Earth-10011 - otherwise known as the Cancerverse - was given armor by eldritch gods that came with healing powers that are absolutely disgusting. The Cancerverse came to be after Death herself was killed and the universe was taken over by ancient gods known as the Many-Angled Ones. The elder beings took over and consumed the Avengers, rebranding them as the Revengers and morphing them into dark new forms and costumes.
Cancerverse Iron Man was introduced in Realm of Kings #1 witten by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning with art by Leonardo Manco and Mahmud Asrar. In the issue, the Cancerverse is trying to spread across the multiverse, with the Many-Angled Ones working to spread their eternal reign over deathless slaves. Its evil begins to cross over to Earth-616, where cosmic heroes including Quasar and the Guardians of the Galaxy fight off the insidious forces.
The healing powers offered to not only Iron Man but the other corrupted heroes are powered by the dark forces of the Many-Angled Ones, hence making the power itself dark and disturbing. When a Revenger is injured in battle, instead of their flesh healing and returning to its healthy state, they mutate. The Cancerverse is a place of ungoverned life, and so whenever a being's natural form is harmed, they don't just heal but expand, often into grotesque new forms.
But while this Iron Man has a disgusting healing factor to go with his eldritch armor, it's not like the corrupted hero actually needs it. In the Cancerverse, Death herself is dead and thus no one can die. The only reason everyone is corrupted is because Death is a necessary counter-measure to the Many-Angled Ones. The healing factor the Many-Angled Ones gift their followers is evidently another layer of control they have over them, with each injury taking them further from their humanity. Only select beings such as the Thanos of Earth-616 - who was temporarily transformed into Death's avatar - are able to deliver death to the transformed Revengers. Without this unique link to another dimension's Death, the Many-Angled Ones' agents will rise again in new forms, as happens to the Defenders when they're seemingly slaughtered in The Thanos Imperative #2.
Even more terrifying, the Many-Angled Ones are a multiversal threat - when the Death of Earth-616 was almost killed by the Hulk and X-Men, it was revealed that this mainstream reality would also become a Cancerverse were she to perish. The Many-Angled ones choose champions like Iron Man to transform and make stronger - even enhancing equipment like Tony's suit and Cap's shield - with normal civilians seemingly merging together into a morass of "life" everlasting. It's not just that Earth-10011 was attacked by these terrifying villains, but that this is the final fate of any dimension where Death is ended for good.
Iron Man's Lovecraftian armor may look cool, but neither it nor his healing factor are for his benefit, but rather a form of stamped ownership the Many-Angled Ones have applied to all their thralls. Iron Man's Cancerverse armor comes with an awesome dark redesign, unbeatable healing, and increased eldritch power, but at the end of the day, it also comes at the cost of his humanity.
