Daniel Craig's time as the globe-trotting spy James Bond officially came to its explosive end with the release of No Time to Die. The film features a stacked cast that blends the old and new, both villains and allies alike.
But, many of these stars are unlikely to return to the Bond franchise after Craig's departure, so prospective viewers will have to look for them elsewhere. Thankfully, almost everyone in the main cast of No Time To Die has one big project or another coming up, so fans won't have to wait long to see them in action once more.
Rory Kinnear has played Bill Tanner in the James Bond franchise since Quantum of Solace, which was also his first major film role. His next big appearance after No Time to Die will be in the A24 horror-comedy Men, directed by Alex Garland.
The film, which stars Kinnear alongside Jessie Buckley and Paapa Essiedu, follows a woman mourning her husband’s death who decides to go on a trip alone across the English countryside. There’s no release date yet, but filming wrapped in May 2021.
Ben Whishaw plays Bond’s trustworthy gadget designer Q in No Time to Die. His predecessor in the role, Desmond Llewelyn, oversaw five different Bonds, and it would be amazing to see Whishaw do the same.
But he’s currently taking on several other projects, including the AMC drama series This is Going to Hurt, adapted by Adam Kay from his memoir of the same name. Whishaw stars as Kay, an aspiring doctor who finds out the job might not be all he expected.
Ana de Armas made her first appearance in the Bond franchise in No Time to Die as Paloma, a CIA agent Bond teams up with while in Cuba. She had previously starred alongside Daniel Craig in Knives Out.
Her next film role will be in the thriller Deep Water, based on the classic Patricia Highsmith novel. Ben Affleck and de Armas star as Vic and Melinda Van Allen, a married couple trapped in a loveless relationship when a series of unsolved murders raises the tension between them to deadly amounts.
Christoph Waltz portrayed the villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Spectre, a character he reprised for No Time to Die. He also has a major voice role in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming animated adaptation of Pinocchio.
Waltz is playing both the Fox and the Cat, the pair of devious con-men who Pinocchio runs into on his journey. Pinocchio will premiere on Netflix, though the streaming service has not announced a release date.
Ralph Fiennes has played Gareth Mallory, the head of MI6 and successor to Judi Dench’s M, since the character’s debut in Skyfall. And after No Time to Die, Fiennes is going right back to spy work with The King’s Man.
A prequel to the Kingsman films that takes place during World War I, The King’s Man was originally scheduled to be released in November 2019 before being pushed back more than two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fiennes stars as Orlando, a dapper spy and foundational member of the Kingsman organization.
Jeffery Wright returned as CIA operative Felix Leiter in No Time to Die, appearing as the character for the first time since 2008’s Quantum of Solace. His next major role is in the upcoming superhero film The Batman, in which he plays Commissioner Gordon.
The film also stars Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, and Paul Dano as Riddler. It is intended to launch a new Batman media franchise, with two spin-off television series already in the works at HBO Max.
Naomie Harris features in No Time to Die reprising her role as Eve Moneypenny, a former field agent and M’s secretary. She also has a main role in the upcoming Showtime series The Man Who Fell to Earth.
Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, author of The Queen’s Gambit, the series follows an alien called Faraday who travels to Earth at a defining moment in the history of human evolution. Chiwetel Ejiofor stars as Faraday and Harris appears as Justin Falls, a talented scientist who befriends the alien.
After starring as brand-new Bond villain Lyutsifer Safin in No Time to Die, Rami Malek’s next role is in David O. Russell’s star-studded upcoming film, tentatively titled Canterbury Glass. The film is a period piece based on an original screenplay by Russell and following the partnership between a doctor and a lawyer.
The cast includes Malek as well as big-names such as Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Taylor Swift. Little else is known about the film except that 20th Century Studios has scheduled it for a November 2022 release date.
Léa Seydoux reprises her role as psychiatrist Madeleine Swann in No Time to Die, in a rare case of Bond’s love interest carrying over from the previous film. Her next movie, The French Dispatch, also features Jeffery Wright and Christoph Waltz and is currently in theaters.
Seydoux also has a role alongside Viggo Mortensen in David Cronenberg’s upcoming horror film Crimes of the Future. The film is based on a screenplay by Cronenberg and shares its title with a separate movie he directed in 1970.
Following his tenure as James Bond, Daniel Craig is taking on a new role as gentleman detective Benoit Blanc in the Knives Out franchise. The first of two planned sequels to the 2019 breakout hit will star Craig alongside an ensemble cast including Dave Bautista, Kathryn Hahn, Ethan Hawke, and others.
The film likely won’t be titled Knives Out 2, as it isn’t a direct sequel to the original, but rather another mystery featuring the intrepid Blanc. It will debut on Netflix, and though there isn’t an exact release date, filming has already wrapped as of September 2021.
