Destiny 2: How to Get The Messenger Pulse Rifle | Screen Rant

The Messenger Pulse Rifle is one of the best PvE and PvP weapons in all of Destiny 2, and players can access it as a Trials of Osiris reward. The Messenger is a Kinetic weapon, and it is part of the High-Impact archetype, giving it increased damage and more aim-down-sights stability. As a Pulse Rifle, it can take advantage of the anti-Unstoppable Champion mod in Season of the Lost, making it easier to face one of the hardest Champion types in PvE.

The Messenger is a Trials of Osiris weapon, which means it can also take advantage of the unique Trials of Osiris customizations. It can only be earned as a reward or purchased with a Trials Engram for a new roll after players have earned it the first time. Additionally, as a Trials of Osiris weapon, there is an Adept version of The Messenger that can only be earned by going Flawless. As with any Adept Trials of Osiris weapon, The Messenger (Adept) can only be earned during weeks where it's featured as a reward.

The Messenger can roll with the perk Desperado, which arguably makes it the best Pulse Rifle in all of Destiny 2. With Desperado, reloading after a precision final blow increases the weapon's rate of fire. This perk takes The Messenger from a 340 RPM Pulse Rifle to a 600 RPM killing machine without sacrificing any of the benefits of being a High-Impact weapon. A lot of players prefer to pair Desperado with Outlaw, as Outlaw decreases the reload time of a weapon significantly after a precision kill. Whether in PvP or PvE, The Messenger feels like a powerhouse at all times.

The God Roll for The Messenger is Smallbore, Ricochet Rounds, Outlaw, and Desperado. Smallbore and Ricochet Rounds are great barrel and magazine perks because they increase range and stability and add the "ricochet" effect to the bullets.

Even if The Messenger doesn't drop with Outlaw/Desperado, it still has some great alternative perks that make it nothing short of an excellent weapon choice. If any Guardian fails to earn the Outlaw/Desperado combination, players shouldn't scrap The Messenger outright. These are some great alternative rolls for The Messenger:

  • Smallbore, Ricochet Rounds, Outlaw, One For All
  • Chambered Compensator, Appended Mag, Rapid Hit, Kill Clip
  • Hammer-Forged Rifling, High-Caliber Rounds, Moving Target, Desperado
