You Season 3 Trailer Confirms October Release Date | Screen Rant

Netflix has dropped a teaser trailer for You season 3, which confirms its arrival in October. Based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Caroline Kepnes, the series first premiered on Lifetime in 2018 before Netflix picked it up and renewed it for season 2. The psychological thriller stars Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg, a charming bookstore manager who falls into a deep obsession with a customer, before spiralling further to become a stalker and serial killer.

You season 2 followed Joe as he moved from New York to Los Angeles to start fresh and escape his murderous past. In this new city, he soon met and fell in love with a new target, Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti). Joe later realized that the tables had turned against him, as Love was revealed to be just as obsessive and twisted. The shocking season finale saw Love, a cold-blooded murderer, revealed to be pregnant with Joe's child. In January 2020, Netflix announced that You would be getting a third season, with both Badgley and Pedretti reprising their roles. However, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the show's production and fans were left waiting for season 3 for over a year.

Now, Netflix has unveiled a thrilling teaser trailer and first-look images that confirm You will return on October 15. The short clip, posted on the streaming platform's Twitter account, shows a woman (supposedly Love, who is an aspiring pastry chef in the series) baking a pristine white cake. Badgley's voice narrates in the background, revealing that Joe and Love are having a baby boy. The video ends with the immaculate cake being decorated with blood-red icing that reads, "Welcome Baby Henry." "Who are you going to be, Henry?" Badgley asks, chillingly, as the cake is sliced to show the premiere date. The first-look images include a picture of Joe and Love looking like typical new parents, fawning over baby Henry. This is accompanied by a photo of the couple in their infamous basement that holds all of their deadly secrets. See the full teaser trailer and images below:

The teaser certainly excited fans who have been anticipating the show's return since 2019. While the gender and name reveal don't seem to be anything out of the ordinary, it could mean that Joe and Love's bloodlust will be passed on to the innocent boy. In fact, the name Henry may be an eerie nod to the 1986 thriller, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Interestingly, the trailer did not give any mention of the mysterious woman next door who Joe was eyeing in the season 2 cliffhanger. Marriage, fatherhood, and this new neighbor will surely be Joe's focus in the upcoming season.

The first two seasons of You captivated audiences with the right amount of suspense, twists, romance, and drama. Badgley's performance as the unassuming, normal guy harboring a dark secret has always left viewers hungry for more. Beyond its addictive plot, however, the series also deals with relevant themes such as toxic relationships, abuse, and mental health. And for fans who have missed the show, You season 3 is looking to be as provocative and shocking as ever.
