Tom Girardi, the estranged ex-husband of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne, is being accused of staging photos taken outside of a nursing home. The disgraced attorney was recently photographed touring the grounds of a nursing home in Burbank, California. But according to the attorney who's been blasting the Girardi's legal woes on social media, Tom only orchestrated the photo shoot to help plead his case of being mentally unstable amid the fraud allegations against him. It's the latest in a string of scathing critiques attorney Ronald Richards has hurled at the divorcing reality star couple.
After getting accused of embezzling $2 million meant for family members of plane crash victims he represented in 2018, money that Tom allegedly misappropriated during his decades of being a legal titan has been under review. With Erika being married to Tom for 20 years, she is also guilty by association, despite her November 2020 divorce filing. Shortly after Tom's legal troubles were made public, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia, and placed under a conservatorship by his brother. It appears that is the defense Tom is going with as he deals with the fall of his career and works out how he will pay back his debtors.
Most recently, Tom was photographed touring an assisted living facility in California shortly after he was disbarred in the state of California. It was one of the rare sightings Tom has had since his legal claims hit the press late last year. Photos showed Tom outside the Belmont Village Senior Living facility in Burbank; it wasn't confirmed if he will be staying there or not. But after the photos hit the press, attorney Ronald Richards, who is investigating Tom's bankruptcy case, took to Twitter to blast the sighting as an alleged photo op. "No bags, scripted photo opp., 'exclusive' story, no notice, something isn't adding up. We should have an update by tomorrow...Stay tuned," Ronald tweeted along with photos of Tom at the nursing home and one image that read, "Under investigation."
Since Ronald started overseeing Tom's bankruptcy, which put court-appointed trustees in charge of Tom's estate, the attorney has publicly blasted both Tom and Erika on social media and in press interviews. He has even come after Erika's good friend Lisa Rinna for how boldly she defended Erika from the ongoing accusations against her. Most recently, it was determined that Tom's former law firm, Girardi & Keese, is $101 million in debt. The debt surpasses the remainder of Tom's total equity in personal property, which comes in at only $4.1 million. Additionally, it was determined that Erika spent $25 million she received in loans from Tom's law firm.
Erika denied the claims, but reports show her business received a $25 million loan from Tom's firm that she spent in the form of glam, publicists, personal assistants and a massive American Express bill. Ronald continues to tease the day RHONJ star Erika Jayne will have to appear in a court-ordered deposition, where she will be forced to testify under oath. Until then, her spending habits are being put on display for all to see while Tom continues his drastic fall from grace.
