Paul Bettany, star of WandaVision, recently revealed that he likes Vision's costume butt better than his own. Bettany first made his MCU debut in Iron Man as the voice of JARVIS, but it wasn't until 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron that he appeared in person as Vision, the vibranium synthezoid powered by the Mind Stone. It wasn't until WandaVision, though, that Bettany truly got the chance to shine. Starring opposite Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, the first original MCU Disney+ series followed the couple's seemingly idyllic life in Westview, New Jersey through the lens of classic and modern sitcoms.
Of course, not everything was as it seems. Westview was encompassed by what has come to be known as the Hex, a projection made by the ultra powerful Scarlet Witch that ensnared the residents of the small town in her vision of the perfect life. Vision died in Avengers: Infinity War and Wanda couldn't handle the grief, leading her to process this in extremely unhealthy ways. Eventually, Vision discovers this and the could fight both Agatha Harkness and S.W.O.R.D. to protect themselves and free the residents of Westview.
In an interview with Variety, Bettany went into depth about his role on the show and, in particular, his complicated costume as Vision. The actor said that he's never sure how much the costume aids him in his performance before joking that he does like one thing about the superhero suit. Bettany says that Vision's suit has a much better butt than his own.
I’m never sure how much I’m aided by it, except I think the suit’s got a much better butt than I have.
Bettany's comments are nearly guaranteed to reignite a debate surrounding butts in the MCU. In Avengers: Endgame, Scott Lang AKA Ant-Man tells Steve Rogers that he has "America's Ass," a comment that has become a running joke for MCU fans and the franchise itself. In fact, later on in Endgame, after fighting the 2012 version of himself, Steve even agrees as he looks down upon the unconscious variant of himself. Vision's butt has gotten much less adoration from fans, but now that Bettany has put it out there, it may be time for a reevaluation.
Still, Vision has a few competitors. After the comments about Steve Rogers' butt, Spider-Man's own became a subject of debate in the comics. Ultimately, it will be difficult, even for Vision, to claim the title of MCU's best butt now that Scott Lang and Steve Rogers' comments live on in infamy. With WandaVision being a much more serious story, there wasn't really any time for discussion of butts. The characters were much too focused on the mysterious events of Westview to pain any mind to their behinds.
