MCU: 10 Quotes That Live Rent-Free In Fans' Heads | ScreenRant

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become quite unruly as of late. To be fair, it was already a behemoth after Avengers: Endgame, when twenty-two movies had been released to culminate the Infinity Saga. But now, there are twenty-four movies, three Disney Plus series, so much more on the way, and a ton of quotes that have become memorable markers of the movie menagerie.

Some of these quotes have even managed to worm their way into people's long-term memories. From beloved characters quips to tense emotional declarations, these ten quotes have managed to live rent-free in the minds of all who love the MCU, for better and for worse.

10 "I Become Invisible To The Eye."

In Avengers: Infinity War, a dramatic moment between Gamora and Star-Lord sees the tension relieved by Drax revealing he was standing and snacking for their entire conversation. He claims he is invisible if he never moves.

This was funny when it first happened, but considering how much it's been run into the ground - to the point where even James Gunn balks at it - it's clear that rent-free is not always a good thing. Sometimes, it's time to move on from the meme.

9 "This Place Would Look Like A Jackson Pollock Painting."

Keeping the Guardians of the Galaxy in mind, their first appearance was such a jolt to the MCU system that there were hilarious, memorable quotes abound. One of the earliest comes in an exchange between Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon.

The former mentions what his spaceship would look like under a blacklight. The reason it lives rent-free in fans' minds? It's just so jarring. Who'd've thought a superhero would make such a foul reference?

8 "That Is America's Ass."

This particular quote might also be at risk of over-exposure, but it had a perfect structure for its ultimate payoff in Endgame. Tony remarks on Cap's ass, Scott Lang salutes that ass, and then Cap admires himself when he fights with a past version.

What helps it be so memorable is that it's emblematic of the slight weariness Cap has developed over the years. When he arrives at a point where he can compliment himself, it's a lot of fun.

7 "I Got Something Kinda Big, But I Can't Hold It Very Long."

Speaking of Ant-Man, he's actually got a lot of quotes that can stand up to the best that the MCU can offer. For example, in Captain America: Civil War, he offers up a distraction by turning into Giant Man.

However, he prefaces it with the quote, "I got something kinda big, but I can't hold it very long." It's yet another sexually suggestive line that reads differently out of context, but it's Paul Rudd's delivery that makes it such a fantastic moment.

6 "I Remember All Of Them."

Also in Captain America: Civil War, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were able to balance silly quotes with highly emotional ones. The line "I remember all of them" comes when Tony is fighting Steve and Bucky and he asks if Bucky remembers killing his parents as the Winter Soldier.

"I remember all of them," Bucky replies. It's a phenomenal character beat that provides even more weight to that final battle and provides a clear line for the arc Bucky embarks upon during The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

5 "I'm With You Until The End Of The Line."

Much of Bucky's character arc did revolve around whether or not he felt he was worthy of love and acceptance with Steve Rogers out of the picture. After all, the two of them always told each other, "I'm with you until the end of the line."

Perhaps the line never holds more weight than in the climactic moments of The Winter Soldier, when Steve refuses to fight his brainwashed friend. It may be heart-wrenching, but it's undeniably memorable.

4 "Loki, I Thought The World Of You."

In nearly every movie they've appeared in, Thor and Loki endlessly squabbled with one another. Sometimes, those fights got violent and other times, they just got depressing. But their brotherhood has been at the heart of both of their arcs, deep down.

When Thor confesses this in an uncharacteristically heartfelt scene from Thor: Ragnarok, it hits hard and deep. But its rent-free nature has also made the journey of Loki on Disney Plus that much more rewarding.

3 "I Love You, 3000."

Welcome to what has seemingly become the rallying cry of MCU fans and the defining quote for the Infinity Saga as a whole. As everyone remembers, in an exchange between Tony and his daughter, Morgan, the superhero states, "I love you, 3000."

It's repeated a bunch of times, and at its heart, it just shows how much Tony cared for the people in his life. Beyond every heroic action, this alone shows what kind of developmental journey he went on for eleven years on screen.

2 "I'm Not From Earth; I'm From Missouri."

It would be a mistake not to mention just one more joke that lives rent-free in MCU fans' minds. When the Guardians crossed over with Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Iron Man two-thirds of the way through Infinity War, sparks immediately flew.

The standout line of dialogue from these exchanges comes when Star-Lord scoffs over Tony's Christ recognition and states, "I'm not from Earth; I'm from Missouri." It's definitely funny, but also completely nonsense and one that fans are still mulling over.

1 "What Is Grief, If Not Love Persevering?"

The quote "What is grief, if not love persevering?" had to be number one simply because of just how far-reaching its influence has been. First of all, it lives rent-free in MCU fans' minds because it's a genuinely well-written and thoughtful piece of dialogue.

However, there are some who consider the line to be on par with the best words ever penned by Shakespeare. Then, there are those who have fun with the quote and make endless memes about it. Lastly, there are those who cynically mock those who were moved by the line and have still not relinquished that hold over three months later. Ultimately, the advice Vision provides to Wanda in the penultimate WandaVision installment lives rent-free in everyone's minds.
