Bidoof Day Pokémon Art Fuses Bidoof With Arceus | Screen Rant

One Pokémon celebrated Bidoof Day by merging the cuddly little beaver with the legendary Arceus. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company recently dedicated July 1 to the odd but endearing Generation IV Pokémon, prompting “Bidoofery” from fans all over the world.

Among the Bidoof-related festivities were parody RickRoll videos and sharing fun facts about the cute Normal-Type critter, who won its way into fan's hearts thanks to its shiny eyes and protruding buck teeth, which give it a unique appearance among Nintendo's ever-growing assortment of collectible pocket monsters - as well as a surprisingly versatile skill set that allows it to learn useful attacks like Cut, Surf, and Rock Smash. Prior to the initial “Bidoof Day,” earlier this weekend, Pokémon Go hosted a special “Bidoof Breakout” event on June 22, in which players could collect a Shiny version of Bidoof (which sports an alternate color scheme and is thus extremely rare) among increased sightings of its normal brethren.

Reddit user SuncraftXD took the Bidoof Day shenanigans a step further by combining the unassuming Normal-Type with the legendary Arceus, who also made its initial appearance in Pokémon Diamond And Pearl back in 2007. This mythical creature holds a special place in the lore of Pokémon, since it serves as the creator of the entire world where the franchise takes place. The bizarre fanart of this unlikely union was then posted to the r/pokemon subreddit yesterday, drawing jokes and praise from commentators in awe of the mighty Bidoof/Arceus hybrid – which can be seen in all of its glory below:

The success of Bidoof Day has left fans hoping for more Pokémon-themed holidays in the future, with suggested names including the infamous Magikarp and the ghostly Chandelure. While The Pokémon Company hasn’t announced anything to the extent of Bidoof day, Pokémon Go continues to plan out special events devoted to particular pocket monsters, with the latest being a Community Day one centered around the Generation V Fire-Type Starter Tepig later this month. In the meantime, Nintendo has been teasing a few special cross-promotions with companies like Nabisco for a Pokémon-themed Oreo flavor.

Fans had plenty of fun on Bidoof Day, and SuncraftXD's merged Bidoof/Arceus creature has got to be one of the strangest things to come from the event. The aesthetics of both creatures mesh surprisingly well, however, and reading commentators' reactions to this bizarre hybrid (with many referring to it as a god) are good for a chuckle or two. It’s enough to make one wonder what will come with next year’s Bidoof Day - provided Nintendo decides to continue the strange-yet-fun Pokémon-themed holiday in 2022 and beyond.
