After Schitt's Creek: What 10 The Main Actors Are Doing Next

The little Canadian comedy that became a smash hit, Schitt’s Creek has now wrapped up after six seasons, two Golden Globes, and a whopping nine Primetime Emmys (with dozens of other nominations, to boot). The story of a clueless rich family finding happiness in a small town was clearly the wholesome comedy the world needed, and it has launched many of its cast to stardom.

After such a massively successful series, though, where will the stars go next? What have they appeared in since the show ended, what do they have coming up, and who is sitting back and taking a break for the time being?

10 Emily Hampshire - Chapelwaite

Emily Hampshire already had an impressive filmography before she joined Schitt's Creek as Stevie Budd, having started out in the '90s on Are You Afraid Of The Dark. She's also clearly an actor who likes to keep busy, as she was working on multiple other projects while Schitt's Creek was on the air, including 12 Monkeys (the series), The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, and Save Me.

Next up, she's involved with Home, a thriller about 'terror after a family tragedy' (without much more to go on than the tagline, as yet), which is set for release later this year. She's also announced to be playing Mary Hartman in a remake of the original '70s series, and at the moment, is filming Chapelwaite, a horror series about a family who relocates to a small town, and based on the Stephen King story 'Jerusalem's Lot'.

9 Chris Elliott - Christmas Vs The Walters

Another actor with a long career behind him, Chris Elliott appears in Schitt's Creek as the well-intentioned but incredibly awkward mayor of the town, Roland Schitt. Elliott himself has been acting since the '80s, and is well known for his roles in Groundhog Day, There's Something About Mary, and more recently, as Lily's father in How I Met Your Mother.

Next up, Elliott will be sticking with comedy, this time with a seasonal twist, in Christmas Vs The Walters, set to come out this holiday season. Fans can expect the usual dysfunctional family holiday mayhem, as an exhausted mother 'tries to create the perfect Christmas' for her family.

8 Sarah Levy - The Surrealtor

Schitt's Creek is definitely a Levy family project, although Sarah Levy is only involved as an actress, unlike Dan and their father Eugene, who wrote and produced as well. Sarah plays the sweetly naive Twyla in the show, and won audience hearts with her sweet nature. Sarah herself has been acting for around ten years, but Schitt's Creek is her biggest role yet, and she now has several projects in the works.

In March 2021, Sarah appeared in All Rise for a single episode, and she has two projects in post-production. Distancing Socially is a film of vignettes about connecting in the global situation of the past year, while The Surrealtor is an upcoming tv series that blends househunting with supernatural phenomenon, as a team attempt to fix and sell haunted homes. In addition, Sarah will be part of the announced series Patty's Auto, about an all-female mechanic shop.

7 Noah Reid - Outer Range

Noah Reid won hearts as the absolutely adorable Patrick Brewer in Schitt's Creek, a character who balances out David's quirks and falls in love with him in one of the sweetest storylines of the entire series. Working since the '90s, Reid was previously known for Black Hole High and Three Inches, although Schitt's Creek may be the series that really propels him to superstardom.

Next up, he'll be appearing in Outer Range, a series that will follow a ranching family in Wyoming, and all the trials and tribulations of trying to save their land and livelihood and deal with what life throws at them. It's not a straightforward series, though, as it adds a layer of mystery with the discovery of something 'unfathomable' on their land.

6 Dustin Milligan - Rutherford Falls

Dustin Milligan has racked up an impressive sixty-plus acting credit since 2004, including recent series Blindspot and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, before coming to Schitt's Creek as Ted, the wholesome and charming veterinarian that Alexis falls for.

Next up, Milligan will be sticking with the small screen, with a new comedy that is likely to be another huge hit. Rutherford Falls, from David Hyman of The Good Place and Parks and Rec, focuses on a small town and a battle to remove (or keep, depending on which side you are on) a historic statue in the middle of a crossroads. Sounds like a simple premise, but with a phenomenal cast and some big names behind it, it may be the next big thing.

5 Jennifer Robertson - Ginny & Georgia

Fans of Schitt's Creek's bubbly Jocelyn Schitt can already see the talented Jennifer Robertson in her next project, as it has already hit Netflix. Robertson appears in Ginny & Georgia, a new mother-daughter drama series often compared to Gilmore Girls, as Ellen Baker, the 'wine mom' who lives next door to the titular pair. Robertson also has a film in the works, with Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between (about high school sweethearts) currently in post-production.

4 Catherine O’Hara - Extinct

Catherine O'Hara was definitely one of the biggest names in Schitt's Creek, and her portrayal of Moira Rose has become iconic (and won her her first Golden Globe). While working on Schitt's Creek, she was also involved in multiple other projects, including A Series Of Unfortunate Events, Skylanders Academy, and The Last Kids On Earth, and it's clear from her popularity in the series that fans want to see much, much more of her (and her brilliantly unique comedic voice).

At the moment, she has two films on the way, but both are animation, so fans will have to wait and see what her next live-action project may be. In The Beast, Heroes of the Wildfire, a re-telling of the wildfire at Fort McMurray, O'Hara will voice Mayor Owl. Before that, though, she will be lending her vocal talents to Extinct, a fun animated film about a pair of Flummels (extinct, fictional creatures that look a bit like hamsters crossed with donuts).

3 Eugene Levy - The Beast, Heroes Of The Wildfire

Eugene Levy is an absolute titan in entertainment, and is known for his work on everything from American Pie to Finding Dory to Waiting for Guffman to SCTV. He has won an impressive thirty won awards, and is an actor, writer, director, and producer - and he won hearts as the charming (and slightly clueless) Johhny Rose on Schitt's Creek.

He doesn't have too much currently in the pipeline, although he will also be appearing in The Beast, Heroes of the Wildfire alongside Catherine O'Hara.

2 Annie Murphy - Kevin Can F**k Himself

Annie Murphy's Alexis Rose has become one of the most loved characters on Schitt's Creek, and it's easy to see why. Murphy manages to create a totally unique character, but one who is kind, encouraging, smart, and driven - as well as being ditzy, funny, and impressively optimistic about her own talents.

Fans can't wait to see what she is working on next, the hilariously titled Kevin Can F**k Himself. A dark comedy, the show stars Murphy as Allison, a woman who is the perfect 'sitcom wife'... until she snaps, and decides to change things. From the trailer, it seems as though the series will switch between versions of reality, between a technicolor sitcom world and a dark, murderous one, and it seems that this is going to be a whole lot of fun.

1 Dan Levy - Happiest Season

Schitt's Creek co-creator Dan Levy burst onto the scene with Schitt's Creek, and it seems that he is planning his next steps in the entertainment world carefully - although given the massive success of the series, there is no doubt that at this point, he can do pretty much whatever he wants. At the moment, Levy only has one post-Creek project, a film that came out for the holiday season of 2020: Happiest Season. In this romantic comedy/drama, he appears as the best friend of a woman who wants to propose to her girlfriend... but finds out that she is not out to her family. It's a great role, and one that just leaves fans wanting more, and waiting to see what Dan brings us next.
