Hitman 3: Agent 47 Goes Skydiving In Opening Cinematic

IO Interactive has let loose the opening cinematic for Agent 47's upcoming adventure in Hitman 3, which will mark the end of the studio's World of Assassination Trilogy. The developer officially unveiled the saga's latest entry earlier this summer during Sony's PlayStation 5 games event. Since then, the hype for 47's next outing has continued to build.

And continue to build it should, given all that's been shown off, thus far. Notably, fans can expect a massive leap in graphical quality thanks to Microsoft and Sony's recently released next-gen hardware. Full VR support for the title is presently in the works, too, bringing the entirety of the Hitman Trilogy to PlayStation VR. Some unfortunate news has made the rounds as well, though. For one, Hitman 2's servers are no longer accessible and the series' 1v1 Ghost Mode won't be making the jump to Hitman 3. But a new trailer shows IO Interactive still has a few surprises up its sleeve.

Today, IGN posted an exclusive video from IO Interactive's impending project, showcasing Hitman 3's impressive opening cinematic. The trailer runs roughly two minutes long and offers another tease of what the new narrative entails. It would seem Agent 47 and another assassin, another asset, are no longer keen to standby and follow orders as told. The shadowy figures responsible for 47's dealings and those of his cohort will come tumbling down. And it's clear the two aim to take on their targets in style, given the stunning skydiving sequence at the end of the cinematic opening.

Agent 47's skydiving into Dubai is a thrill worth watching multiple times. It also counts as a neat, perhaps intentional, reminder of what IO Interactive will work on next: a James Bond game. As of now, details regarding the Swedish studio's plunge into the 007 universe remains scarce at best. The only concrete piece of information concerns news that the team plans on telling an origin story of some kind.

But while the wait for that particular adventure persists, IO Interactive has another exciting Hitman title on offer. Once again, Agent 47 will travel to several destinations around the world to complete his mission. Not all of the specifics are publicly known as of yet. However, late last month the studio showcased the long-running series' most gorgeous setting to date, the neon-bathed city of Chongqing.
