The 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? alum Kalani Faagata claims that she recently had a troublesome and racist encounter with a Walmart employee. She shared her experience with her Instagram followers. However, when some trolls dismissed her claims by saying that she was just acting "dramatic," she mentioned some occasions and said that she has been experiencing racism since childhood.
Kalani and her husband Asuelu Pulaa first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé season 6 and then on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 5, which premiered in June 2020. Many fans followed the couple's journey while they battled through major financial problems and cultural differences. Kalani was born and raised in the United States, but she is half Samoan. Her father, Low Faagata, was born in Samoa. But he immigrated to America during the 1970s along with his parents and siblings. The 32-year-old reality TV star is an American citizen by birth, and she boasts her beautiful Polynesian look.
But recently, Kalani was treated differently, perhaps because of her looks. She took to her Instagram and accused a Walmart employee who treated her unfairly. She claimed that she wanted to exchange or return an item from the shopping center, but she was denied without any "valid reason." So, she sent her "white" mom, Lisa Faagata, and she was able to exchange the item with no problem. The "same employee" helped her mom with the exchange and demanded "no ID." She further told her IG followers that her mom has been helping her with this "switcharoo" since her teen years. As a sarcastic note addressed to Walmart, the former TLC star wrote, "Dear @walmart in Washington, Utah – I promise I don't need to steal $9 of Garanimals. TV pay isn't that bad." However, a troll called Kalani "dumb" for starting "sh*t over $9.61." Another one accused her of being "dramatic." Kalani then hit back at the trolls by illustrating the times she experienced discrimination. She called the trolls "ignorant," and said that during her childhood, whenever she got out with Lisa in public, no one believed she was her mother. While her mother could carry stacks of clothes to the dressing room, she was asked to count the number of items she was carrying. Her mother could bring a coach bag "big enough to fit a body," but she was only allowed to take a crossbody bag.
Asuelu's wife had faced similar situations at shopping centers. Even if she would have a "receipt, card, ID," chances are she could still be "turned away." The former 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star concluded her post by saying that racism exists. It's sad to see that Kalani had to spell it out for a few people!
