Below Deck: What Happened to EJ Jansen After Leaving Show

Below Deck's EJ Jansen was a main cast member on season 5 of the show back in 2017. The born and raised Canadian made a splash during his time on Below Deck, often feuding with fellow deckhand Nico Scholly. Here's what he has been up to since leaving the show three years ago.

Below Deck is a popular Bravo TV show that follows the lives of various crew members working on superyachts during charter season. After its first season back in 2013, the crew has traveled to several different ports, and the fifth season found the crew heading to the island of Saint Martin. Jansen made quite an impression on Below Deck fans with his drama-filled run on the show. Along with EJ's problems with Nico Scholly, he also had a brief fling with deckhand Baker Manning, though it did not survive past his stint on season 5. EJ has spent his time since the show continuing to make a name for himself in the yachting world.

EJ started his career in yachting at 21 and worked his way up the ranks from deckhand to eventually becoming a captain. In the years since leaving the show, EJ has continued pursuing his passion for yachting. He has taken up residence back in his native British Columbia, Canada. He has proved himself to be a great entrepreneur and has started not one, but three, yachting businesses in the past couple of years. He created Top Notch Yachts, a Victoria, BC based yacht maintenance services and sales company. In addition to Top Notch Yachts, EJ also has a high-end yacht brokerage company that is also based in British Columbia called Jansen Yacht Group. He is the owner and president of this firm.

Before joining the Below Deck cast, EJ had founded an online yacht training website that was made to help aspiring crew members. Though that website is no longer up, EJ did create a new one called Yacht University, which has courses to help those interested in the field learn key industry secrets so they can begin journeys of their own. The program seems to be very successful, featuring many testimonials from former students who have since become crew members.

Even after leaving Below Deck, EJ has continued to show his love of boats and yachting. He has worked his way from a junior deckhand to a well-regarded captain, as well as an entrepreneur and president of multiple companies. Though many people just know him for his time on Below Deck, EJ has continued to find success in the yachting world since leaving the show.
