What Halloween Cooking Shows Will Be Available on Hulu On October 1

Who is ready to channel their Halloween spirit? Hulu certainly is; on October 1, they released different cooking shows for a limited time. They will be available for the month, ready to give us the scare of our lives. If not, they will make us very hungry long before trick-or-treating comes to the door. It proves that Disney isn't the only company that can dominate Halloween media; you don't always need life-stealing witches to get your point across or trigger our primal fears. Sometimes we just need some baked goods, sweaty chefs, and solemn judges wanting to sink their teeth into zombie graves or skeleton brides. We also get some nice accompaniments to video games that will pile on jumpscares and suspense.

The Food Network is very good at making our mouths water and our chef contestants scream. Sometimes the shows will feature giant challenges, along with twists that force the cooks to rack their brains for presentation. Halloween Baking Championship is well-known for the judges showing off their detailed costumes, and the contestants working with mad scientists tools or showing off their innovative skills when facing tough challenges. No matter how creepy the creations became, they were always fun.

According to the Den of Geek, three shows are available today: All-Star Halloween Spectacular: Special, Halloween Baking Championship: Complete Seasons 1 – 4, and Halloween Wars: Complete Seasons 3 – 8. The Hulu LiveTV upgrade also will allow you to see Haunted Gingerbread Showdown as each new episode from season three appears on the Food Network. After Halloween wraps up, the shows will only be available for a short while, until fall 2021. Amateurs and professionals alike have to turn up the oven temperature and get their scares on with artful designs. Just the thought of zombie donuts or monster cookies can make a person hungry.

In short, it is a very good time to stay entertained while everyone has to stay indoors. In addition to classics such as the Nightmare Before Christmas and Hocus Pocus, we want to get reasons to start baking again and enjoying food vicariously. After all, quarantine means that many people are at home now, eager to pound out and knead some dough. Beyond the pumpkin screams and the witches that have no idea how buses work, we want the sense of community.

Thanks to quarantines and remote activities, more people will be staying at home. You can go as far as to say that Halloween -- trick-or-treating, parties, social school events - face the serious risk of canceling. (I can say that canceling trick-or-treating is the worst part because who is going to eat all that candy or share it with your family?) It makes these shows more important because they allow us to celebrate the holiday while maintaining a six-foot distance from others. The pandemic is no joke, but it has certainly disrupted the routines that make things familiar.

We recommend tuning into these shows as your way to celebrate, in line with Zoom get-togethers and movie marathons. You might get inspired and take out those baking pans to see if you can make a zombie-bacon donut, or a bundt dripping with syrup and fake blood. And even if those experiments go awry or you don't bake, you get several hours of entertaining television as a result. We maintain that the judges have a really good budget for their costumes, and it's amazing that they don't get any of them stained from chocolate or fresh raspberry sauce. Emulate that style, and get ready to dig into the Halloween spirit.
