While that’s a pretty good way to keep fans hooked, as their curiosities are bound to make them watch the show again, viewers would still like definite resolutions in certain areas. The Haunting of Hill House’s questions have been up in the air for years by now, so let’s look at the ones fans want answered the most.

10 Why Was Olivia So Easily Forgiven?

The Haunting of Hill House seems to fall into tropes found in similar horror shows, in that someone is easily forgiven simply because they’re a main character. Olivia was responsible for Abigail’s death, yet the Dudleys didn’t seem to harbor any ill will toward her.

Likewise, her family also saw her in a fair light despite the fact that she did turn crazy and try to kill all of them. Fans have taken to wondering if Olivia’s actions were all the doing of the house or if she went overboard in her insanity by herself, as the show indicated. It’s still unclear why she was so easily forgiven and the question remains if there was more to the situation.

9 What Is The Ultimate Fate Of The House?

One of the things that fans wanted Bly Manor to avoid carrying on from Hill House was leaving the backdrop of the horror ambiguous. After all, viewers still aren’t sure what even became of the house in the grand scope of things.

Unlike other horror stories, the house here can potentially be the way it is forever. Regardless of that, it’s just a big part of fans’ curiosity to know what far future holds for Hill House, as this point wasn’t made to seem as important as it should be.

8 Will Mr. Dudley Die In The House As Well?

The ending had shown that Mrs. Dudley was taken back to Hill House so she could die there. This was done so she could be with her children in death, making her one of the ghosts. It also left Mr. Dudley as the only surviving member of the family.

It was only implied that he would do the same when his time came, but since it was never shown fans do want to know if Mr. Dudley followed through with this plan. Knowing the answer to this will bring closure to the tragedy of the Dudleys.

7 How Do Ghosts Choose Their Appearances?

Based on how cool they look, fans have taken interest in certain ghosts. The Tall man has seen quite a bit of trivia being uncovered his way, although this has opened up a big question. This has to do with why certain ghosts look one way while others don’t.

It appears as if these ghosts can choose the way they look, with the “good” ones retaining a better appearance while others look more menacing. It’s not known why the ghosts can just choose to look however they want, making this a burning question that needs to be answered.

6 How Did Steve See Luke's Treehouse?

It was established that the Red Room was supposed to show what a person wanted to see. Characters realized that they’d been alone in their respective rooms the whole time without knowing it, but this doesn’t cover the fact that Steve was actually in Luke’s Red Room.

Luke’s backdrop was shown to be a treehouse, a place Steve had joined him and was seen on-screen doing so. With that in mind, why is it that Steve was the exception to this rule? If there’s a significance to it, the answer’s still out there.

5 Did Anything Really Change About The House's Curse?

There’s no doubt that Hill House brought the scares aplenty, but the show is still considered overrated by some due to deliberate things left to fans’ interpretation. A big one is if anything the characters did really made a difference or not. After all, the house is still in the same place and will continue feeding off negative energy to corrupt people.

It’s not clear if the main characters have ensured nobody else gets the house, so what’s stopping someone else to purchase the place years in the future and have themselves be corrupted the way Olivia was? Overall, fans are curious if the house’s curse changed or not.

4 Are There Still Hidden Areas Within Hill House?

Those who have noted Hill House’s structure have pointed out that the Red Room wing doesn’t make architectural sense. It’s become one of the questions fans want answered about The Haunting series as a whole, seeing as this implies there are more areas to discover in the house.

The blueprints of Hill House revealed that there’s no structure supporting either the first or second story of the building. This had led to an overall curiosity over the function of the place, in that if hidden areas exist and if they were even alluded to discreetly.

3 What Happened To Luke's Eyesight?

The adult Luke had so many problems that it seems the show itself overlooked the fact that his vision wasn’t supposed to be good. The child Luke was shown to be suffering from vision problems, with the boy wearing thick glasses to cope with this issue.

However, he didn’t appear to have any need for glasses as an adult, which doesn’t explain how he overcame his eye problems. Some fans have theorized it has to do with Hill House, but since there’s no definite answer, it remains a mystery.

2 Why Do Crain Women Have Powers?

The performances of the actors in their psychic-powered state are so impressive that fans like to check out other films and shows starring these performers. While the acting is on point, there’s still the matter of needing an explanation over why the Crain women had these powers, to begin with.

Theo’s abilities were focused on the most, but Olivia and Nell were also confirmed to possess the same powers. As to why wasn't addressed, only that these abilities became a disadvantage due to Hill House exploiting them. Now that the horror is over, fans need to know the significance of this aspect of the Crain women.

1 Why Is Hill House Malevolent?

In many ways, the fact that the house’s malevolence isn’t addressed makes for one of the biggest cliffhangers in the last decade. This is due to everything tied down to Hill House’s evil, whose origin is something that is never made clear.

It’s simply agreed that the house is supposed to be a bad place, but that doesn’t stop the questions over why it is that way and how it came to be. Since there doesn’t seem to be a direct sequel in the works, fans tend to fixate on this question the most.
