Dorinda Medley enjoyed a lot of perks during her time on The Real Housewives of New York, including living rent-free in a pricey Manhattan apartment, but now she is leaving the luxury pad.
The former housewife recently broke her silence about her firing. She was let go back in August and got the bad news through a phone call. During an appearance earlier this month, on fellow alum Bethenny Frankel's new podcast, Dorinda admitted that she did not have a “good season this year.” She added, “But I was doing real. You know, that's where I was at that time.” The "Bravolebrity" had just dealt with a breakup, broken ribs, and a flood in her Blue Stone Manor. The "make it nice" star acknowledged that she probably should have sat The Real Housewives of New York season out.
Back in September, it was revealed that she was at risk of losing her rent-free Sutton Place apartment. Dorinda was granted a rent-free stay in an apartment valued at $10k a month in exchange for promoting the property. With her landing the big deal as a result of her RHONY casting, it was only a matter of time before she made an exit after her firing. Dorinda posted a video to her Instagram Story on Monday, October 19, expressing her excitement as movers packed away her belongings, Bravo TV reports. "It's happening," she said while looking around the emptying space.
She had previously shared her joy about moving into the apartment last year. “I’m so happy there,” she told Bravo at the time. “I feel very settled. The neighborhood is much more like a little London neighborhood. I walk everywhere. It’s fresh, it’s bright, it’s on the river, and I feel so happy." When she made the move, she decided to rent out her East 87th St. condo for $9950 a month. It's possible that she could make a return to her Upper East Side property now that the former RHONY star has left Sutton Place.
After signing off on the big-money deal, Dorinda did her part in terms of getting the costly pad as much exposure as she could She gave the network a tour of the space last year. While on the show, Dorinda's team worked to get the free apartment featured in as many RHONY scenes as possible. She would also flaunt the home on her social media pages. At least the property owners got something from their investment, while Dorinda enjoyed a year of no rent.
