Genshin Impact: When It's Coming to Nintendo Switch | Screen Rant

Genshin Impact has attracted millions of players in just a short amount of time, and it's already a massive success for developer MiHoYo. Drawing clear inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Genshin Impact is the first true AAA gacha game.

As a free-to-play title, Genshin Impact is built around the idea of paying money to draw extra characters and items. It's an incredibly ambitious game, however, and there's a quality open-world RPG underneath all the gacha mechanics.

With the game already on mobile, PS4, and PC, there are plenty of ways to play. However, MiHoYo has previously said Genshin Impact will also come to Nintendo Switch. The only question is, when?

Unfortunately, there's no exact date for the Nintendo Switch version, as all MiHoYo has said is that the game's currently in development. The studio hasn't even given a hint as to a release window, but with the overwhelming success of Genshin Impact, it'd be best to get the game out on Switch while the iron's hot. Sam Lai, head of communications at MiHoYo, talked about the Switch version in an interview with RPG Site, saying "The Switch version of Genshin Impact is currently under development. More information regarding Switch beta testing and launch dates will be announced at a later time."

Beta testing would likely begin sometime in early 2021, with a full release coming after. It's hard to say exactly when Genshin Impact would release on Switch, but it'd likely be mid to late 2021. Because Genshin Impact is a live service game, MiHoYo will be focused on adding new content and events, which means a Switch port likely wouldn't be its priority. It's also not clear if the Switch version will have cross-save functionality, as the PS4 version currently doesn't. Considering Switch fans have to wait for a port, however, it's possible that MiHoYo could work in a cross-save system, so players can simply carry on.

Genshin Impact is currently available on mobile devices, PS4, and PC.
