Elite 85t Are First Jabra Wireless Earbuds To Ship With Advanced ANC

Jabra introduced the latest entry in its Elite line of earbuds Tuesday, which will ship with fully adjustable active noise cancellation. While the company already offers a line of noise-cancelling headphones, it is new for its earbuds. This makes Jabra a little late to the game here as many of its competitors sell similar products with ANC control. However, the Jabra Elite 85t with Jabra Advanced Active Noise Cancellation could still shape up to be an interesting contender for music lovers' dollars.

The Jabra Elite 85t are the follow-up to the Elite 75t, which are generally considered to be high-quality earphones, even if they are lacking some of the advanced features found in other products, such as AirPods Pro or Galaxy Buds Live. The Danish company has a good reputation in the audio world. In addition to wireless earbuds and headphones, Jabra also makes such products as AI headsets and video conferencing cameras.

The Elite 85t uses Java Advanced ANC, which, as the name suggests, offers a higher-level of noise cancellation than is found in the company's standard active noise cancellation setup. They use an ANC dedicated chip and four microphones (inside and outside the earbuds) to better remove surrounding sounds. The ANC controls are not just on and off, but are fully adjustable via two sliders that go from full ANC to HearThrough, which lets in outside noises.

The oval silicon earbuds fit comfortably inside the ear and the 12 mm drivers promise a full sound with deep bass. In addition to ANC, the Jabra Elite 85t offers wind noise protection and a six-microphone technology for clearer phone calls. Each earbud has three mics (two on the outside, one on the inside) which all work together to filter out the noise. With ANC on, the Elite 85t can work for about five and a half hours on a charge and about seven hours with ANC turned off.

The Jabra Elite 85t will first become available in titanium/black from select retailers in November, along with a suggested retail price of $229. Other color combinations (gold/beige, copper/black and black/gray) will come out in January. For those who recently bought the Elite 75t and don't want to upgrade, there's good news. Jabra says that its standard ANC solution will be coming to those earbuds, which use a Qualcomm chipset, through a firmware update in the future. Likewise, the Jabra Elite 75t will also start shipping with standard ANC built-in, starting in October.
