Bose Launches Three New Frames Audio Sunglasses: What You Need To Know

Bose has released three new Frames audio sunglasses for consumers to choose from, the Tempo, Soprano, and Tenor. These sunglasses allow users to listen to their music by simply wearing sunglasses rather than using headphones or earbuds. While Bose is already a brand many will associate with audio products, this is not the first time the company has sold sunglasses.

In 2018, Bose released the Alto and the Rondo Frames audio sunglasses, making them the first audio sunglasses to ever be released. Many improvements have been made to Bose’s audio sunglasses since those original two models, and many more features and styles are available with the latest version. Each of them can connect to a smartphone to stream Bluetooth audio, including both music and phone calls.

Bose’s new Frames are now available to buy from the company's website as well as other retailers and all three models are priced at $249. According to Bose, the glasses not only block up to 99-percent of UV rays, but also create an audio bubble around the wearer so that other individuals nearby won’t hear. They have the same level of contact with your ears as normal sunglasses, and they’re designed to look and feel like traditional sunglasses rather than audio devices. To achieve this, all of the audio streaming technology is kept streamlined and invisible to the user and to others. Bose says the sound quality is superior to the Alto and Rondo, as well as explaining how they feature two microphones and technology that shields the audio quality from wind and other distractions.

The Tempo is made for sporting activities and is scratch, sweat, shatter, and weather-resistant. The glasses produces a sound that’s loud enough to be heard while cycling or doing other activities, but still allow enough sound to get through to ensure the wearer can hear the world around them. The Tempo glasses are also durable, lightweight, and even have customizable nose pads so that the sunglasses fit better on any face. In addition, Bose says the glasses will fit under most helmets and protective headgear used for sporting activities. In terms of battery life, wearers can expect up to 8 hours before a charge is needed. There are three optical lens choices available for the Tempo, each specializing in seeing light at a different time of day.

The Sopranos and Tenors are very similar to each other, with the main difference being the style. Tenors have a smaller square style, whereas the Sopranos have a cat-eye shape. These two sunglasses are said to offer "noticeable better bass" making them a better option for those looking for a greater low frequency response. They both also come with a battery that's rated to last for up to 5.5 hours, and are made with high-quality materials that seek to enhance the overall design of the sunglasses. Along with a high gloss finish, both models are are scratch and shatter-resistant. The Tenor's lenses come in Mirrored Blue and Silver, and the Soprano’s come in Rose Gold and Purple-fade.
