Agents of SHIELD star Elizabeth Henstridge recalls her hilariously embarrassing encounter with Samuel L. Jackson. For seven seasons, Henstridge played brilliant biochemist Jemma Simmons on Agents of SHIELD, the MCU's first ever television show. Despite what some have perceived to be a rocky start, Agents of SHIELD managed to cement itself as one of the most reliable Marvel shows out there. Season after season, it reinvented itself with new stories, from the classic tale of an A.I. on the loose to time travel. Agents of SHIELD came to an end in August with a finale that many fans found to be very emotionally satisfying.
Despite taking place in the MCU, Agents of SHIELD often remained separate from the movies. Season 1 marks the rare season to feature multiple MCU references, including some major character appearances. The most exciting is undoubtedly Jackson's Nick Fury, who cameos in two different episodes. While the first amounted to little more than a quick end-credits scene, Fury played a pivotal role in the first season finale "Beginning of the End". Following the fall of SHIELD, Fury comes to Simmons and Fitz's (Iain de Caestecker) rescue after they're stranded in the middle of the ocean by Hydra mole Grant Ward (Brett Dalton).
Henstridge decided to take a trip down memory lane in the latest video for her YouTube channel and told the story of how she had an embarrassing moment with Jackson. According to Henstridge, it didn't happen when they were actually filming their Agents of SHIELD scene, for she spent the entirety of it in a pretend healing chamber. Instead, it occurred when Henstridge's car, an old Kia named Kevin, was brought out front at the end of the day. Henstridge put on a bit of a show with Kevin's arrival, which put her into an awkward position with Jackson. "At the moment that I am backwards on the bonnet, basically reverse-humping Kevin the Kia," Henstridge said. "Out of the stage door comes Samuel L. Jackson." You can hear the full story down below.
Jackson is undoubtedly one of the most iconic actors of all time, so it's no surprise that Henstridge would feel a little flustered about this encounter. Luckily, however, it sounds like Jackson took it all in stride. Having Jackson appear on Agents of SHIELD was one of the most memorable moments of the entire show, and it's safe to say that this is a pretty hilarious memory for Henstridge as well.
Though Agents of SHIELD has come to an end, fans still hope there could be a place for some characters within the MCU going forward. Simmons ended the show living a peaceful life with Fitz and their daughter Alya, but she could easily be pulled back into the action if someone called for her. After all, Simmons knows Nick Fury; perhaps he'll have a need for her later on.
