The Boys and the Supes will be fighting again when The Boys season 2 releases on Amazon Prime on Friday, September 4, and here's a guide to what time fans can begin streaming the new season online. An adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book series of the same name, The Boys became a breakout hit for the streaming service when season 1 released in summer 2019. Amazon Prime quickly ordered another season, and they don't plan on stopping there as season 3 is also on the way.
The Boys season 2 is expected to pick up where season 1's cliffhanger ending left off, but of course, that'll only be the start to yet another ridiculous adventure for the Boys team as they take on the Seven and other superpowered beings. And like the first season, this new story will be told across eight episodes. However, Amazon Prime has opted to alter the release schedule. Instead of releasing the entire season all at once, they've changed the show to somewhat of a weekly release.
For now, fans can look forward to watching the first three episodes of The Boys season 2 on Friday, September 4 at 12:01 am PDT or 3:01 am EDT. This falls in line with most streaming shows and movies, which tend to release online at midnight Pacific. Of course, this could possibly change and Amazon Prime may choose to release the new episodes either earlier (as a surprise) or later in the day (as DC Universe has done with their original shows).
As previously mentioned, The Boys season 2 is moving to a weekly release. But instead of following Disney+'s lead with The Mandalorian, Amazon Prime is taking a cue from Hulu's streaming model; they're releasing the first three episodes of season 2 on September 4, with one episode per week (every Friday) from then on. That means The Boys season 2 will end on Friday, October 9. And unless anything changes along the way, it's expected that each episode will release at midnight Pacific on those respective Fridays.
While it's unfortunate that the entire season won't be available all at once, moving to a weekly model means conversations about season 2 will continue for at least a month, keeping discussions going and potentially increasing the series' popularity as a result. And the good news is that The Boys season 3 is in active development with some new roles already cast. Amazon knows they have a hit on their hands and it seems they want to see it continue for at least another year.
