Netflix’s newest feel-good reality show Say I Do has managed to tug at heartstrings and how! From the same creators as Queer Eye, the show follows three fabulous wedding professionals, each with their individual personalities as they help couples find their happy endings. In its quest to create dream weddings, the show starts off by introducing the lovable couple of Marcus and Tiffany, who brought tears to the eyes of everyone watching with their journey of love. The first episode of Say I Do saw them have their wedding redo in the most dreamy ceremony ever at a location that caught everyone’s attention – the picturesque Drees Pavilion.
With a format that can be bet described as soul-food, Say I Do offers a wondrous culmination of Queer Eye’s makeover concept with the dreaminess of a Pinterest wedding board. Featuring eight couples, who for one reason or the other, haven’t been able to convert their dream weddings into reality, have their wishes granted by the show’s three stylish experts. Celebrity fashion designer Thai Nguyen plays the fairy ‘gown’ mother; interior designer Jeremiah Brent, who’s in charge of the overall aesthetics and venue; and chef Gabriele Bertaccini who whips up a storm of delicious gourmet specialities for the do. While the trio helps a spouse plan out a surprise proposal, they also get to put together everything that goes into the making of a fairytale wedding – all within a week. The show also follows the journey of the couples showing the audience the obstacles they’ve faced in their lives that made their route to the aisle full of hurdles. On meeting Marcus and Tiffany LaCour, the viewers learn about their disastrous first wedding that includes everything from family drama to even a fire.
The couple had been married for seven years met in college when they were broke. Tiffany, who had been planning their wedding for two whole years, eventually was left dissatisfied when it finally happened and ended on a supremely bad note. Marcus turned up hungover for the ceremony, they had to face family issues and drama, Tiffany hated her dress, her makeup, her hair, and a fire broke out at the reception venue leaving the couple with no option but to evacuate and have their pictures taken outside on the street – amidst the rain. The couple even heard a few nasty comments like, “eff you and eff your wedding” from the people driving past them while they evacuated the premises. Since then, Tiffany always kept wishing for a re-do that would help her live out her wedding fantasies. But things soon took a turn for the worst when she lost her father and only sister last summer under unfortunate circumstances. Marcus then made up his mind to give his wife her smile back and that’s exactly where Say I Do stepped in.
Tiffany and Marcus first saw their dream wedding venue – Drees Pavilion – while on an “online vacation.” Coming from humble beginnings, the couple was flat out broke when they first started dating. Since the couple didn’t have enough money to go on dates, they could grab the laptop and browse different destinations via Google Maps. One day they happened to stumble across Drees Pavilion in Covington, Kentucky, that became Tiffany’s dream wedding venue. It being out of their budget back then, the couple had to settle for a place that did. Magically though, helped by Say I Do and it’s Fab Three experts Jeremiah Brent, Thai Nguyen, and Gabriele Bertaccini, Marcus and Tiffany could indeed witness their dreams come true at Drees Pavilion.
“I like the view, it makes me want to get married,” a quest exclaims as they walk into Tiffany and Marcus’ ceremony. The venue, decorated with 7,000 roses by Say I Do’s own décor extraordinaire Jeremy Brent offers an ethereal view overlooking the skylines of Cincinnati and Covington to the viewers. Setting standards for spectacular event celebrations, the 10,000 square foot Drees Pavilion is located on the highest overlook in Devou Park above Covington. Donated by The Drees Company in 2003 to commemorate its 75th Anniversary, the venue is priced at $2 million. Situated just minutes away from downtown Cincinnati, it’s easily accessible from anywhere in the Tri-State and is capable of seating over 200 guests with the ease of hassle-free parking. The elegant wedding, event and reception centre also features, as seen on the show, a panoramic terrace, covered patio and a 2,500 square foot gazebo where viewers saw Marcus first meet Jeremy, Thai and Gabriele. With a stunning sight of the skylines of Cincinnati on the left and Kentucky on the right, the Pavilion stands high at the top of Devou Park providing its guests with lush green gardens, an expansive golf course, and a terrace that is perfect for drinks, casual meet-ups, and even dancing. Its flexible layout combines the gazebo and terrace with ‘The Anniversary Ballroom’ which viewers would recall served as the reception area for the couple. The guests, along with the show’s experts were seen dancing the night away as the lights of Cincinnati and Covington twinkled in the background towards the end of episode 1. Drees Pavilion is also a promising venue for breathtaking proposals with its secluded nature trails and tree-lined groves. They also have devoted teams of in-house event coordinators available to help customize proposals, set up the wedding décor, catering, and even entertainment to ensure a pleasurable experience for the couple and their guests. In spite of being the first couple to be introduced on the show, Tiffany and Marcus’ story left an everlasting impression on everyone who watched Say I Do.
