A new piece of fan art imagines what Keanu Reeves' John Wick would look like as Green Lantern and Sinestro. Reeves has always been a popular movie star in Hollywood but has gotten new-found popularity as of late due to the John Wick trilogy. Reeves is also returning to some of his most iconic roles, such as Ted Logan in Bill & Ted Face the Music and Neo in The Matrix 4.
In 2011, Warner Bros. released Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular character and Mark Strong as Sinestro. Despite this being one of the few appearances of a live-action Green Lantern, the film bombed at the box office and received scathing reviews from fans and critics alike. A new Green Lantern movie has been in the cards for a while now, and HBO Max is even developing a new Green Lantern series, but very little is known about either project. Tom Cruise and Tyrese Gibson have both been rumored in the past to play Green Lantern, but new fan art imagines another big star in the role.
Digital artist mjhiblenart recently shared two pieces of Reeves fan art, imagining what John Wick could look like as both Green Lantern and his arch-enemy Sinestro. The artist combines elements of John Wick into the illustrations by captioning his Green Lantern post, "He is a Man of Focus, Commitment, and Sheer F***ing Will," a quote from John Wick: Chapter 2. The Sinestro art also sees the villain creating a pencil as a weapon, which is, of course, another reference to the first John Wick.
While there haven't been any rumors of Reeves taking on a role as a Lantern, there have been rumors that he is returning to another DC character: John Constantine. It was recently reported that J.J. Abrams was developing a new live-action Constantine movie, but it's unknown at this point if it will be a reboot or if it will recast Reeves. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has also said they've contacted Reeves for almost every Marvel movie, yet he has yet to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That being said, it isn't unheard of for actors to appear in both DC and Marvel films.
Reeves may be returning for John Wick: Chapter 4 in 2022, but it's unknown when (or if) Reeves could become a superhero in the MCU or DCEU. Given his previous performances, it's clear that Reeves could do well as either a superhero or a supervillain in Green Lantern. That being said, Reeves is such a beloved celebrity at this point that most fans will enjoy seeing him on the big screen regardless of which comic book character he plays.
