Although fans have been chattering nonstop about the status of the cast for the upcoming Big Brother: All Stars, CBS has remained silent on the matter. Aside from a brief suggestion that the cast would be interviewed via the live feeds earlier this week, CBS hasn't communicated to fans of the show when the cast would be revealed. The network has finally broken its silence, however, announcing that the cast will be revealed live during the season premiere on Wednesday, August 5.
Several former players have been attached to the cast, and while various developments have made some names more likely than others, fans are still far from certain as to who may or may not be involved. Speculation will surely continue to run rampant over the next week, but CBS's confirmation as to when the cast will be announced should at least alleviate any false hope for a pre-season reveal.
In a tweet posted Thursday afternoon, CBS Big Brother account noted that the upcoming premiere marks the first time in franchise history that the cast will be revealed live during the episode. While the show has previously waited until the premiere episode to reveal the cast, never before have they done so when that same episode is live. The tweet also noted that the premiere would last two hours.
Of course, while the announcement may be reassuring to some, it is understandably frustrating for others. After all, fans had plenty of reason to believe the cast would be announced sooner. Not to mention, there are so many rumors online regarding the potential cast, that the so-called reveal might not be much of a reveal at all. If the rumors turn out to be true, a large chunk of the Big Brother fan base will have already learned who is involved with the show's 22nd season. For more casual fans, who may not have spent the last several weeks playing detective in order to uncover the cast, the reveal may prove especially exciting, however. The opportunity to see participants in a season be revealed in real time is certainly intriguing, and could prove especially surprising if any players appear who have not been attached to any rumors thus far. The odds of such a surprise do seem to be decreasing, however, as TV Guide's website has even posted a complete cast list. Keep in mind, however, that this list likely includes alternates, so not every name may be involved with the upcoming season.
With newfound clarity regarding Big Brother: All Stars, fans of the hit series can take a deep breath and relax as they look forward to the official announcement of the cast next week. Perhaps they can even take pride in knowing they're taking part in franchise history, as well.
