To participate in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker's PvP, players must travel to The Wolves' Den, located off the shores of Moraby Drydocks in Lower La Noscea. The fairy skipper will take adventurers to the area and a Disciple of War or Magic must be level 30 to participate in combat. The Feast, Frontlines, and Rival Wings are the three current PvP modes at the Wolves' Den. The Frontlines has three opposing teams fighting in a large arena, while The Feast contains a battle arena with teams of 4v4 or 8v8. Rival Wings is Final Fantasy XIV's version of a MOBA-inspired team mode consisting of 24 vs 24 players. At the Wolves' Den, Warriors of Light use special Actions and Traits instead of their normal skills to acquire a unique currency called Wolf Marks. Upon release of Patch 6.1 in Endwalker, the PvP game mode will receive new additions, as well as a rework of current content.
In FFXIV, PvP is an outlet for fans to determine how they fare against other Warriors of Light. The game mode has always been an ancillary activity outside of all the action that takes place in the main story and beyond. Players can step away from their normal adventures and pit their skills against one another in fun pursuits of conquest. The PvP system in Endwalker is getting improvements, with new content and rewards to be enjoyed.
In the FFXIV Live Letter from the Producer on YouTube, the changes to PvP were detailed. A new small-scale 5v5 mode consisting of different jobs on each team will be added called Crystal Conflict. This new FFXIV: Endwalker content is designed for short matches to be played casually in short bursts. Role-based actions and matchmaking will be removed to allow for shorter wait times. Distinctive actions and job-specific Adrenaline Rushes, the PvP version of Limit Breaks, will also be added. The Crystal Conflict will have skilled-based matchmaking, as well as casual, ranked, and custom match options. The objective of the new mode in Endwalker is for one team to capture a crystal and push it to their goal on the map while also avoiding obstacles. Along with the Crystal Conflict, a PvP system overhaul will be implemented in FFXIV, too.
"Series" will be added to FFXIV, in which players can participate in PvP activities to earn unique rewards at the end of each period. As the adventurers participate in these "Series," they will accumulate experience and gain special tokens, gear, mounts, and other items at specific levels. This currency will carry over to the next period and can be exchanged for various rewards. The Crystal Conflict will be separate from the Series, getting Seasons instead, and these will rank players based on their accomplishments, rewarding titles, achievements, and other accolades.
The Feast will also be disbanded with Patch 6.1, but the wolf collar currency, obtained from this mode, will remain. The Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker roadmap details many updates to keep players occupied until the additions to PvP arrive. Endwalker will finish one story arc and leave room for another to take its place. The expansion will keep adventurers busy while they wait for the PvP revisions.
