Spider-Man: Freshman Year Animation Reimagined As A Live-Action TV Show

New fan art reimagines Marvel's upcoming animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year as a live-action show starring various MCU cast members. Since finally joining the MCU in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland's Spider-Man has gradually become one of the franchise's most beloved characters. He'll next appear in December's Spider-Man: No Way Home, which could very well end up being his last solo MCU movie. At the same time, Sony is pressing forward with its own Marvel universe made up of Spider-Man side characters, so there could still be more ahead for Holland's webslinger.

Though his MCU future on the film side might be unclear following No Way Home, Marvel Studios is still carving out a place for Spider-Man in its upcoming slate of projects. During last Friday's Disney+ Day event, Marvel announced the development of new animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year. It is expected to reveal some key details of Peter Parker's life before he joined the MCU in Civil War. Few details about the cast were given, though one has to hope that Holland will get the chance to voice Spider-Man.

To celebrate the news, digital artist artoftimetravel created the perfect fan poster for Spider-Man: Freshman Year. However, instead of imagining how the animation might look, the image envisions the series as a live-action project starring Holland and some of his fellow MCU stars like Marisa Tomei and Jacob Batalon. The Easter egg-filled art does a great job of setting the tone for what Freshman Year could be, and it makes the entire project that much more exciting. Check it out below.

Holland's iteration of Spider-Man is notable because of how it skipped over his well-known origin story. While past Spider-Man movies covered events like his radioactive spider bite and Uncle Ben's death, the MCU side-stepped these things and started with a Peter who was already somewhat settled into being a new hero. That's the appeal of Spider-Man: Freshman Year: Getting to glimpse the MCU's version of this beloved origin story without dedicating an entire movie to it.

Many have speculated that Spider-Man: No Way Home will touch upon some of this, particularly when it comes to Uncle Ben. Much of that movie remains a mystery, but it could perhaps provide some hints about what events Spider-Man: Freshman Year will cover. Marvel hasn't revealed anything like a cast or release date, so fans are still waiting for more news on that front. Hopefully, though, the voice cast will resemble the one in the above fan art, since that would go a long way in keeping the series with the rest of the MCU. Fans will just have to wait and see what Marvel has in store.
