Orphan Black Clones, Ranked On How Well Each Would Survive The Zombie Apocalypse

The clones of BBC America's Orphan Black have faced life, death, and experimentation dozens of times throughout the show's five televised seasons. A zombie apocalypse would only be the cherry on top of the world's worst sci-fi sundae.

It's fascinating to think of a world where Neolutionists created zombies along with the 276 known Leda clones. Would there be a self-sustaining Clone Club commune in the Canadian wilderness? Is Krystal teaching self-defense to other survivors? The clones have proven they can survive the unthinkable, but only some of them can make it to the end of this new zombified world.

11 Jennifer Fitzsimmons

By the time she's introduced in the show, Jennifer Fitzsimmons has already died due to the mysterious respiratory illness plaguing many clones.

Her background as a swimming coach means she once had the physical strength to participate in a highly-competitive sport before getting extremely sick. Without her illness, Jennifer would be a great addition to a zombie apocalypse team. However, her rapid health decline means she's likely the first clone to die.

10 Katja Obinger

"The German," as Sarah Manning refers to her, dies moments after meeting her clone in the acclaimed Orphan Black pilot. Unlike other Leda clones, it's not the respiratory illness that gets her, but a bullet from a sniper rifle. Before her death, Katja Obinger ventures to Canada with information concerning the European clones to share with Clone Club.

If she lived, Katja could be an informant on how Europe is faring during the apocalypse. But her bullet-dodging skills would be her Achilles' heel in a world overrun with re-animated cannibals and trigger-happy survivors.

9 Tony Sawicki

Tony Sawicki isn't fazed by anything, not even finding out he has hundreds of genetic identicals living around the globe. But a zombie apocalypse might be the thing to cause even the calmest clone to freak out.

He would survive well on his own, as that's how Tony lived before finding out about Clone Club. But it's this lone wolf nature that would come back to haunt him. Survival in a zombie apocalypse often relies on a team, so Tony's tendency to keep to himself won't work when he's facing off with multiple zombies.

8 Veera "M.K." Suominen

Much like Tony Sawicki, Veera "M.K." Suominen tends to keep to herself. Slow to trust even her clones, she reaches out to Clone Club to aid in the fight against Neolution after helping from the shadows for years.

M.K.'s intelligence and technical skills, coupled with her Clone Club connection, make her one of Orphan Black's best characters introduced. after season 1. These attributes would also be imperative to her survival of a zombie apocalypse. But her ever-present paranoia and trust issues, along with the beginnings of the mysterious clone illness, might be M.K.'s downfall.

7 Krystal Goderitch

Although introduced as a "dumb blonde" stereotype in season 3, Krystal Goderitch proves she has a better idea of what's going on than other non-aware clones. Her naive nature makes her an easy target, but Krystal is not a passive victim.

She takes her self-defense classes seriously, and her groin kicks a lethal weapon in their own right. In a zombie apocalypse, she'd maintain her training and be fierce in hand-to-hand combat. But Krystal's clueless nature would get her into trouble and endanger her life. Plus, a grimy world where she can't keep up with her cuticle care would be her nightmare.

6 Cosima Niehaus

Fan-favorite geek monkey Cosima Niehaus is one of Orphan Black's smartest clones. But a zombie apocalypse survivor? Not so much. Her mind is powerful, so Cosima would make a logical choice as the scientific and medical advisor for Leda clones living together on a remote commune. After her time in Revival, a rural village created by Neolution founder P. T. Westmorland, the commune would probably be her idea.

Often the mediating party between arguing clones, Cosima's level-headedness would be a godsend during the apocalypse as she tries to keep the peace. But much like other clones, the mysterious illness has taken its toll on Cosima. She would fight until the end, but if a zombie doesn't get her, the sickness will.

5 Beth Childs

Viewers' understanding of Beth Childs is extremely limited, as her only screentime occurs moments before her death or through flashbacks. But Orphan Black shows how the complicated woman handled high-stress situations while alive; she was at her strongest when helping others.

Beth's background as a detective, namely her firearm expertise, would be a big pro during the zombie apocalypse. A team player, she would do anything to keep her allies alive. But this dedication to others might be her downfall in an apocalyptic setting as Beth wouldn't focus on herself, which could lead to her undoing.

4 Alison Hendrix

Throughout the series, Alison Hendrix has some of the best quotes, and she also proves she has the chops to hang with her toughest genetic identicals. She would last surprisingly long in a zombie apocalypse, especially after her impressive character growth.

Alison's handiness with an arsenal of weapons, ranging from a glue gun to a jackhammer, proves she'd be ready and able to protect her family from the undead. Depending on when this zombie apocalypse hits the world of Orphan Black, Alison's growth from paranoid housewife craving normalcy to staunch defender of her clones may not have happened, so her final fate is up in the air.

3 Rachel Duncan

Rachel Duncan does whatever she needs to survive, including experimenting on her fellow clones. As one of the first fully-aware Leda clones, she wouldn't be as surprised by a zombie apocalypse as normal civilians. And as part of Neolution, Rachel might even be the cause of the outbreak. Her ruthless nature is something most of the main clones lack, and pairing that with a slight bloodthirst means she'll be a vicious survivor of this dystopian world.

Rachel would find a group to be the leader of, be it fellow survivors or an army of re-animated corpses. But her antagonistic nature makes her a target, and as the series has shown, she doesn't dodge attacks from enemies with pencils as gracefully as she walks down the halls of the Dyad Institute.

2 Sarah Manning

The titular "orphan in black," Sarah Manning spent much of her adult life as a grifter before the start of the series. She has enough street smarts to survive on her own, but her proclivity for seedier living is one of her biggest faults. Sarah has the skills to hold her own against most physical threats and would naturally fill the leadership role within the Leda survival team, as she does with Clone Club on the show.

But she also has her weaknesses — namely her family. If anything happened to her loved ones, Sarah would react recklessly and ruthlessly. Her hotheadedness and penchant for trouble in an apocalypse could cause issues and lead to her death at the hands of other survivors or hungry zombies.

1 Helena

No clone was made to survive a zombie apocalypse with more skill and ease than Helena. A Ukrainian assassin trained to kill her genetic identicals, the skills she learned from the Proletheans prepared her for the end of the world. Throughout the series, Helena survives fatal wounds and years of miserable living. Her ability to endure all that, along with her experience living off the grid, will help her survive a dystopian world longer than her fellow clones.

Her dedication to her new family will give her life in this new world a fulfilling meaning, which will keep her focused. Plus, Helena's aim is deadly. She's making it to the end one way or another.
