Developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix have revealed that the upcoming Spider-Man DLC for Marvel's Avengers will feature several new outfits for the web-slinger, including popular designs such as The Noir Suit and The Spider-Armor Mark I Suit from the comics, and new original costumes made exclusively for the expansion. A recent brand-new cinematic trailer for Marvel's Avengers gave a first look at Spider-Man, as he is set to finally make his way to the multiplayer action game as a PlayStation exclusive. While the trailer doesn't fully showcase Spider-Man and his abilities, it gives a sneak peek at the heroes' combat moves, quips, and the unique form of in-game traversal that will be featured in the character's upcoming story mission.
After being mysteriously absent for over a year due to several post-launch content delays, Crystal Dynamics detailed in a 2021 roadmap that Spider-Man would be coming to Marvel's Avenger's during winter with a unique Hero Event. Though information remained scant, the developer later revealed that the web-crawler would be receiving his very own story mission with extensive cutscenes. Additionally, a recently updated Marvel's Avenger's roadmap detailed that Spider-Man's unique Hero Event will be called With Great Power and will take players through the hero's story with a series of various challenges that will help build his connection with the Avengers and extend the title's lore.
In a new Square Enix developer blog, Crystal Dynamics has revealed several alternative costumes that will be available for the upcoming Marvel's Avengers Spider-Man DLC. Players will be able to equip attire based on original comic-book designs and new ones made exclusively for the DLC. Two of the most popular comic-book Spider-Man designs, the Noir Suit and the Spider-Armor Mark I Suit, will also be available, allowing players to dress up in some classic Spider-Man outfits. Though only a few outfits are showcased, the developer confirmed that more will be available when the new content launches later this month.
Marvel's Avengers is one of the most controversial Marvel-branded game releases of the last few years due to its technical issues and microtransactions. Despite losing a tremendous amount of its player base and disappointing Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics continues to bring updates to the game regularly, expanding the title with new heroes, stories, missions, and larger forms of DLC such as the popular Black Panther: War for Wakanda expansion, which includes new locations and story elements that help build the title's narrative.
Spider-Man is officially slinging his way to Marvel's Avengers, and the hero's bright and vibrant new costume isn't the only attire PlayStation players will be able to fight crime in. While it is unknown what other costumes will be available later this month, fans don't have to wait much longer, as the official Spider-Man DLC releases on November 30th.
Marvel's Avengers is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
