Warning: spoilers ahead for Daredevil #35!
While he's been behind bars for almost a year, Matt Murdock has finally returned as Daredevil (just in time for the upcoming Devil's Reign event). When Bullseye and a posse of his clones put the entirety of New York under lockdown, Elektra's current role as the New Daredevil in Murdock's absence was all that stood in their way. However, Matt Murdock eventually arrived, having rooted out the corruption of the prison he was in and exposed those responsible.
While Elektra has some help from Typhoid Mary taking on the Bullseyes, Mary eventually leaves the battle to save Mayor Wilson Fisk, seeing as how not every Bullseye clone is in Times Square fighting the New Daredevil. While the fight between Bullseye and Elektra was very personal given their shared history (Bullseye once killed her), Elektra was able to use it to her advantage, playing on Bullseye's pride to convince him to kill his clones to prove that he alone is the best there is.
While Elektra's Daredevil has Bullseye dead to rights with a gun trained on him, her time as the Woman Without Fear has changed her, making her less willing to kill. However, she still blocks Bullseye's next shot so that it ricochets back and hits him in the leg, providing Matt Murdock the perfect opportunity. Having heard about his enemy's reign of terror on New York's streets, Matt beats Bullseye into submission with a fury that is only stopped by Elektra herself. Despite Matt not being officially released, he did expose the massive corruption within the prison before showing up to take out Bullseye, revealing that the warden had been injecting inmates with chemicals to make them more aggressive in order to keep making money off the prison. Combined with the fact that multiple Marvel heroes arrive to support Matt and back up his heroism, it looks as though the original Daredevil is a free man once more.
The fact that Spider-Man himself came to Daredevil's defense is pretty significant, seeing as how he was one of the biggest people in Murdock's life to convince him almost a year ago to turn himself in for his crime (involuntary manslaughter). It seems as though Spider-Man, along with several other heroes, believe that Matt has served his time while doing more than enough to redeem himself, despite Daredevil's newfound disillusionment with the criminal justice system, given all the corruption and injustice he witnessed over the last few months. While he originally turned down a deal to uncover the prison's corruption in exchange for his freedom, he investigated anyway, and it's possible that if he simply doesn't return, the FBI will honor their offer - especially given he was allowed to keep his secret identity while locked up.
It's just as well that Matt Murdock has finally been released from prison. The heroes of the Marvel Universe are going to need Daredevil seeing as how Mayor Fisk is about to outlaw all superheroes and begin hunting them down with his recruited Thunderbolts in the upcoming Devil's Reign event, a massive war the Kingpin will be waging in the wake of his decision to wed Typhoid Mary. Here's hoping the return of the original Daredevil will be enough to turn the tide when Devil's Reign begins in December.
