The Bachelor alum Peter Weber is claiming his former relationship with Madison Prewett was the "most difficult experience" ever. The pair's short lived romance began when Madison competed for the pilot's heart on season 24 of the popular franchise. Fans will remember Madison and Peter's strong relationship throughout the show, and the heartbreak she endured when Peter ultimately proposed to his final rose winner, Hannah Ann Sluss. However, during the season's After The Final Rose special, Peter announced he split with his fiancé and reconnected with Madison despite his family's wishes.
Peter and Madison called it quits shortly after they re-established their relationship. Now that Madison is promoting her new tell-all book about her time on the show and what it taught her, she's brought her former relationship back into the headlines. Madison has noted that though they ended things on good terms, she's no longer in contact with him. She doesn't have any ill will towards him, but she didn't tell him she was writing a book about their experience together. Ultimately, Madison admitted that she thinks everything worked out for the best.
In a new interview with Page Six, Peter reflected on the relationship and told his side of the story. "It was literally the most trying and most difficult experience I have ever been through," he said. Peter noted that he has a lot of respect for his ex, but there were too many differences between the way they wanted to live their lives that it would have never worked out. "Nothing against either one of us. It's just who we are. It is what it is," he added. Peter knows his entire season would have had a different ending if Madison didn't decide to leave the show right before the fantasy suite dates, but he's confident it still would have ended with a breakup.

Since their relationship is making its rounds in the news again, Peter admits he has yet to read her book, Made for This Moment: Standing Firm With Strength, Grace and Courage, but is "excited to see all her success that she's accomplished." Peter has not stayed in contact with any of his Bachelor exes, and would like to move on from the show altogether and date someone who is not in the limelight. "I really am more of a private person. I know a lot of people don't believe that but I really am," Peter said. "To me, there's something that's just very attracted about [someone not famous] and just keeping things a little bit closer to the chest." That said, the former lead isn't shutting down the idea of looking for love on the sandy beaches of Bachelor In Paradise next summer.
Though Peter and Madison were adorable and flirty during their tenure on The Bachelor, their values and morals never lined up. Madison had given Peter an ultimatum about sleeping with any of the other finalists in the fantasy suite dates, something that was widely contentious in Bachelor Nation by the end of his season. Since their break up, it seems they have both moved on. But it is telling that Madison decided to write an entire book about how her experience on the show and with Peter changed her life without even giving him a heads up.
Season 26 of The Bachelor premieres Jan. 3, 2022 on ABC.
