Longtime 90 Day Fiancé star Paola Mayfield recently shared on Instagram that she and her son, Axel, are learning Portuguese together. Paola appeared alongside her husband, Russ Mayfield, on 90 Day Fiancé season 1, as well as 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? seasons 1-4. Paola gave birth to Axel on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 4.
Oklahoma-born Russ and Colombian model Paola were one of the very first couples to appear in the Day Fiancé franchise. They have been married since their show debut in 2014, but they took a break earlier this year. Although the American and Colombian couple is now back together, they have certainly had their fair share of ups and downs. Some of the problems they have faced include a lack of support from Paola's mother about her desire to have a home birth, and Paola not wanting Russ' mom to hold Axel after he was born.
Paola shared a video on her Instagram page of herself and Axel using a language learning app in order to learn Portuguese. The Colombian model uploaded the video along with a caption explaining that she and Axel have started to learn how to speak Portuguese together. In the video, both Paola and Axel could be heard speaking Spanish as well as a few words of Portuguese. Fans in the comments showed their support for Paola learning a new language with her son. Many fans left comments in Portuguese encouraging the mother-son duo in their quest to learn a new language. One fan commented that it is wonderful that Axel is on his way to knowing how to speak three languages, as he already has learned Spanish from Paola and English from his father, Russ. Another fan left a comment expressing their confusion as to why Paola has decided to learn Portuguese with her son, stating that the language is only spoken in Brazil. Paola replied that she has a lot of friends in Brazil. Another fan replied to correct that commenter, stating that Portuguese is actually spoken in more countries than just Brazil.
Axel is no stranger to appearing in Instagram and TikTok videos, as Paola and Russ have made many videos for social media that have featured him. Most of the videos the couple has made with their son in the past are dance trend videos, but Paola has also received criticism from fans about the content she uploads on TikTok, accusing her of acting inappropriately around her son. Paola is also a model, fitness instructor and wrestler, so some of the videos she uploads involve less clothing than many viewers deem inappropriate for a mother with a toddler.
Although Paola has gotten flack for the videos she's posted with Axel in the past, it's hard to see how any 90 Day Fiancé viewers could have a problem with this one. Although Paola and Russ have not been featured on the show since 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 4, perhaps viewers can look forward to seeing this family in future spin-offs. Maybe the next time viewers see Axel, he will be trilingual.
