7 Characters In Army Of Thieves, Ranked By Bravery | ScreenRant

Content Warning: this list contains plot spoilers for Army of Thieves.

Army of Thieves, Netflix's new prequel spinoff to Zach Snyder's Army of the Dead, features the origin of the original film's Ludwig Deiter, played by Matthias Schweighöfer. Deiter, first known as Sebastian Schlencht-Wöhnert, teams up with a crew of high-stakes burglars in an attempt to make heisting history.

The all-new cast of characters come from varied and complex backgrounds that influenced who they become by the time Sebastian meets them. Some of them turned out worse for their histories, but some emerged better and braver than ever before.

7 Rolph

Rolph is the getaway driver for the titular army of thieves. Played by Guz Khan, Rolph keeps up a hard exterior, masking his real amicability. He makes friends with Sebastian rather quickly and even teaches him the importance of eating meat sandwiches to increase one's drinking capacity (as true friends do).

While Rolph certainly has a valuable skill set, he also lacks the courage to stand up for what he believes is right. When Brad Cage turns on Sebastian, Rolph quietly voices his dissent, but refuses to do anything about it, even when Korina and Gwendoline abandon the quest in favor of finding the safecracker. In the end, Rolph even joins Brad when he confronts their friends with a gun, not doing much of anything to stop him.

6 Brad Cage

Brad Cage refers to himself as the "leader" of the group, though it becomes clear throughout the movie that he does not deserve the title. Brad quickly reveals himself to be quite unstable, even to the point of intending to harm those closest to him. His intensity, while initially framed as his greatest strength, actually turns out to be his biggest weakness.

While Cage exhibits behavior that seems to be courage, he is not truly as brave as he seems. In the end, viewers come to see that Cage was not courageous at all, but was merely cocky and unrestrained. Despite his efforts to be seen as one of the classic American heroes, he quickly became a villain nonetheless.

5 Delacroix

The head Interpol agent on the case of Sebastian's team is a mirror image of Brad Cage. Obsessed with catching them to the point of near lunacy, Delacroix follows the crew over many miles, always seeming to come up short in his mission. Nevertheless, he is relentless in hunting down the squad of robbers one way or another even if he's not the most intelligent character in Army of Thieves.

Delacroix may not be the bravest person in any given room, but he did get to his position for a reason. Despite the fact that he is often outsmarted, he is always prepared to rush into danger if it means catching his quarry. Even though his courage is not always applied the way it should be, it is undeniably present.

4 Beatrix

Beatrix is the right-hand woman to Agent Delacroix, and seemingly far more capable at doing her job than he is. She often pulls him back from the brink when she observes that he's gone too far, and steps in to take the reigns when she feels that she needs to. In the end, she may even prove to be a better agent than Delacroix.

Though she does not often have a moment to shine, Beatrix displays great courage over the course of the film. Unlike Rolph, she is not content to watch as she knows wrongs are being committed. On multiple occasions, she calls out Delacroix for crossing the line and is prepared to step into danger alongside her men at any given time.

3 Korina

Korina is the resident computer genius of the group of thieves. Witty and sarcastic, she is the voice in Sebastian's ear whenever he goes into the field to crack another safe. Though she often comes off as aloof, she proves to actually be quite a caring friend, even leaving Brad behind after he abandoned Sebastian. Overall, she is a great addition to the Army of the Dead franchise.

Korina isn't afraid of anyone and proves it over and over again during the events of the film. When surrounded by Interpol, she gathered herself enough to destroy the phone that they were seeking just in time. Not only that, but she held out in the face of intense (and rather unethical) questioning by Delacroix. In the end, she proved to be one of the bravest of the crew.

2 Sebastian

Sebastian, first introduced to the audience as Ludwig Deiter in Army of the Dead, is one of Army of Thieves' most likable characters, and perhaps the world's greatest safecracker. Though Sebastian can at times be particular and even a bit petty, he has a heart of gold underneath his suspenders.

Sebastian comes off as nervous and fearful much of the time and is never quite ready for the action at hand. However, despite being constantly out of his comfort zone, he always rises to the occasion. Whether it be sneaking into a credit union or hopping aboard a train to avoid arrest, Sebastian always does what is necessary. Also, it would be foolish to forget his heroic and courageous sacrifice at the end of the original film, where he saved Vanderhoe's life, only to lose his own.

1 Gwendoline

Gwendoline is the tough and brilliant mastermind of the group, who participates in each heist for the thrill more than the money. A teenage runaway, Gwendoline is also an expert pickpocket and a skilled fighter, ready for just about any situation that she may find herself in.

Of the members of her group, Gwendoline is the bravest by far. She is the only one willing and able to rush headfirst into danger without losing her cool. And, in the end, she is more than ready to take the fall if it means that Sebastian can escape arrest by Interpol. Though she doesn't always use her courage for good, it is undeniable that she is the bravest of the bunch.
