10 Weird & Wild Manifest Reddit Fan Theories | Screen Rant

There’s no shortage of shocking twists and turns on Netflix’s Manifest, so it’s not surprising that fans have discussed and debated theories about the show on Reddit. These theories sometimes make sense, but some can also be totally bizarre.

From Angelina’s shady past to Grace’s true killer, there are some weird and wild fan theories out there about the popular series. While viewers eagerly wait for more details about season 4, it’s the perfect time to look at some of the more entertaining speculations about the enigmatic case of Montego Air Flight 828.

The reason why so many of Manifest’s characters are brave is that they have no choice but to be fearless in the face of uncertainty. The Callings aren’t exactly specific about what they want the passengers to do and sometimes their requests can be really extreme.

Redditor Mission_Ambitious thinks that these difficult Callings are “like a final boss” where if the passengers overcome them, “they beat the [Death Day] and return to society as if they were never on the flight.” They use Cal’s return as an example, as he’s able to follow what the Callings wanted him to do with the tailfin.

There are more and more shows that incorporate parallel or even multiple universes into their stories. According to miimtab, Manifest may be using the same plot device. They detail how the Callings are “actively moving reality toward one of two realities,” with one being that the “plane exploded and crashed into the ocean” and the other is that “the plane safely arrived.”

Depending on what the passengers do with their Callings, they move closer to one or the other outcome. A great instance of this is when audiences learn that when Saanvi killed the Major, the tailfin resurfaced. This would also explain why Cal returns home as a teenager, as he’s able to return to the reality where the plane never disappeared for five years.

Although Evie is dead throughout the entirety of the series, she plays an important role in Mick’s story arc. Her role is so crucial in fact, that one Redditor thinks the show could bring her back.

They rationalize their argument by using Grace’s death as an example and how it seems to perfectly coincide with Cal’s return. This may mean that “there is some sort of balance” in that universe where “1 death = 1 life.” Evie’s return would surely be one of the more surprising moments on Manifest if this theory turns out to be true.

With all of the shocking things that have happened on Manifest so far, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to think that something as wild as kwakuga’s theory may be true. They think that “it’s all a simulation,” comparing the series to Life on Mars, which has a similar twist.

It would definitely be an easy explanation for the Callings, as some programmer could be playing God and toying with the passengers from their computer chair. This theory raises more questions than answers, though, and until there’s definitive proof that someone or something is manipulating a complex program, this fan theory is unlikely to gain any traction.

The Major and Angelina are both villains on the show, which might be why Wonderful-Bluejay-31 thinks there’s an unusual connection between them. They believe that the “Major is Angelina and her daughter is actually Eden Stone.”

This would have massive implications on the series as a whole. If this were the case, did the Major know that Angelina would do what she did? How do they both exist on one timeline? And are there any other characters with the same predicament? It’s a fascinating possibility to consider, especially since the next season will likely start with Angelina and Eden’s fates.

Some of the best and bravest acts on Manifest come from Mick, as she always puts others’ lives ahead of her own. The user tylac571 says she could take this a step further in the next season, as she may lead “the charge on the one side” of the divide on the Lifeboat, with “Eagan leading it on the other.”

It’s a sound theory that’s certainly possible after everything fans have seen on the show. Mick is more than capable of helping others and tries her best to do the right thing. However, her taking on the role of a leader could displace Ben, which is not something she would ever want to do.

Not all fans are convinced that the Callings have good intentions. According to realitylegends, it’s the exact opposite. They point out how the Callings are “not meant to be some hero that gives” passengers “a new lease on life” and that they’re only using the people as tools “to accomplish whatever apocalyptic goal” they have “in mind.”

They use Cal’s “blind submission” to the Callings as an example, detailing how he’s manipulated by his visions and feelings to trust Angelina. This leads to the tragic incident towards the end of season 3. It’s an intriguing theory that could be right, especially since nobody really knows what exactly the Callings are and what they want in the long run.

Some fans have noticed that Beverly may be more important than viewers think. NobodysBusiness247 highlights how she has “some facial expressions and things she does” that lead them to believe she has a bigger part to play on the show in the future.

If audiences look back at some of her more crucial acts, it’s easy to be convinced that she may actually be a low-key villain on Manifest. Some may recall how she makes Zeke feel insecure about his relationship with Mick at one point. Beverly even encourages Angelina’s obsession with Eden by telling her that the child is her guardian angel. This could all be a coincidence, but it may also turn out to be something more nefarious.

The user InfamousEquivalant has an interesting explanation for the passengers’ return. They state how their “theory for everything” is “quantum immortality,” which means “that some people are ‘lucky’” and are able to “survive in any accident that happens in the world.”

The accident in this case would be Flight 828’s supposed crash, but for the passengers on the timeline of the show, it never happens. They’re so unbelievably lucky that they never age and hop right onto the next timeline. This theory also assumes that there’s another universe where the plane did sink to the bottom of the ocean. The bits and pieces that surface in the current timeline just happen to be bleeding out onto that world.

The most heartbreaking moment on the show happens during the last moments of season 3, as Grace is stabbed and left to bleed out on the floor. While the majority of fans likely assume that Angelina is responsible for this, DrLamario believes that it’s Cal’s doing, explaining how “the body language and emotion” he “shows when he lays with Grace in her final moments felt more like remorse.”

If proven true, this would make that scene even more tear-jerking. Audiences never actually see Grace being stabbed, so while it’s easy to blame Angelina for the heinous act, no one can be sure of what actually happened. Fans will have to wait for season 4 to confirm their own theories and opinions about that devastating ending.
