The 10 Best Quotes From Venom Let There Be Carnage | ScreenRant

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has so far relied more on the cinematic quality of delivering big action set pieces than anything else, but Venom: Let There Be Carnage also contains a lot of good dialogue. Tom Hardy’s second outing as the titular character was a fast-paced movie that saw him take on Cletus Kasady and the Carnage symbiote.

The sequel brought back Anne, Mrs. Chen, and Dr. Dan, along with new arrivals in Mulligan and Shriek. The main and supporting characters all had some great lines, ranging from funny to heartwarming.

10 "They Can't Take You From Me. You're My One Bright Light!"

The opening of the movie depicted the separation of lovers Cletus Kasady and Shriek in their youth, who were shattered to be taken away. Cletus screamed this quote as he heard of Shriek’s departure, which was a way for the movie to establish his character.

Cletus later revealed that he had been abused by his mother and grandmother as a child, meaning Shriek was the one person who had ever loved him and whom he had loved in return. It gave even a murderer such as Cletus a sympathetic quality.

9 "I'm Going To Make You Cry Now, Eddie. She Will Love It! Cry!"

Venom was too pushy with Eddie and embarrassed him in public by manipulating his body. Upon learning that Anne was engaged to Dr. Dan, an angered Venom tried to force Eddie into begging Anne to take him back.

To this end, he tried to make Eddie cry and told him he would make him do so. Not only was Venom’s attempt to do so hilarious, but him going so far as to tell Eddie what he was about to do was funny in itself. It was as if Venom had seen too many rom-coms and thought winning a woman's heart was this simple.

8 "You Broke Eddie's Heart, You Want To Break Venom's Heart Too?"

Mrs. Chen’s bewildered “what was that?” upon seeing the symbiote was one of the most memorable quotes in 2018’s Venom, and she was shown to be in on the secret by this movie. Mrs. Chen turned out to be extremely loyal to both Eddie and Venom.

When Anne arrived to ask Mrs. Chen’s help to find the protagonists, the latter treated her in an icy way by asking her if she planned on breaking their hearts further. Although Mrs. Chen had the wrong idea, it was heartwarming in a way to hear her be so considerate about Eddie and Venom’s feelings.

7 "What Do They Say About An Eye For An Eye?"

Shriek didn’t get as much character development as she could have, with her role being focused on Cletus’ need to find her. Her personal arc was about gaining revenge on Mulligan for taking out her eye, which came to a close when she finally got her hands on him in the climax.

A moment such as this wouldn’t have felt complete without a one-liner of some sort, and this quote is what she uttered as Shriek landed her hit on Mulligan. It came across as a comic book moment, as villains in the source material tend to quip about their intentions, and Shriek’s words were definitely fitting.

6 "Eddie, I Apologize. I Can't Mend The Heart."

The bond between Eddie and Venom is very well known to comic book fans, and this movie adapted it perfectly. Although Venom was a real pain to Eddie with his intentions to eat brains, he did have a compassionate side when it came to Eddie’s heartbreak over losing Anne.

After Eddie drove his bike without care of hurting himself due to Venom’s regenerative powers, the latter consoled Eddie by telling him he knew what was truly bothering him. Venom even apologized for not having the ability to heal Eddie’s heart, which he would have done if he could.

5 "I Need To Be Free, Eddie."

Eddie took Venom’s constant hunger as the symbiote being selfish and accosted him for it several times. Venom did seem to be acting like a child for the most part until he genuinely told Eddie what the real issue was for him.

Venom claimed he desired freedom and acceptance, which he couldn’t get by being trapped in Eddie’s apartment and concealed in Eddie’s body. It was a rare moment of vulnerability for the symbiote that should make viewers feel for him.

4 "Responsibility Is For The Mediocre."

The post-credits scene provided a good example of why Venom is considered Spider-Man’s biggest foe, but he took an indirect shot at the wallcrawler earlier in the movie. When Eddie told Venom that they needed to be responsible and lay low, the symbiote had a pretty good comeback in the form of this quote.

It was a reference to Uncle Ben’s famous saying of power and responsibility, which would have done the trick towards Peter Parker but not to Venom. The symbiote considered being responsible to be something only mediocre people gave consideration toward, which is a good indication that he won’t be getting along with Spider-Man when they finally meet.

3 "You Just Said You Love Me."

Venom and Eddie had a solid bromance in the movie where they argued like a married couple and reconciled along the same lines. The ending did away with the conflict they went through for much of the movie, and Venom admitted his affection for Eddie on the beach.

Eddie, who earlier claimed he wanted nothing to do with Venom, pointed out that Venom essentially told Eddie that he loved him. It was a well-earned light moment between the duo that confirmed that their dysfunctional relationship was ultimately a loving one.

2 "Once We Kill That What Made Me, We Will Be Indestructible."

The connection between Carnage and Venom is deep, and the movie adapted the comics’ background of Carnage being Venom’s offspring. As in the source material, Carnage had a mission of killing his own father.

The villain showed up pretty late in the movie but instantly made his intentions known by cutting a deal with Cletus over their goals. Carnage informed his new host that defeating Venom was just the beginning and they would combine Cletus’ background as a killer with Carnage’s powers to be unstoppable.

1 "Those Two Need Some Serious Couples Counseling."

Dr. Dan didn’t show up until late in the movie, but he had all the right things to say about Venom and Eddie’s dynamic. The two had been at each other’s throats the entire time and Dan needed just one interaction to comment on what viewers would have been thinking as well.

Dan claimed the symbiote and Eddie were in major need of couples counseling, which was a way for the movie to reference the protagonists’ bromance while also alluding to the overall theme of the story. Considering the two made amends by the film’s end, Venom and Eddie did need to talk it out all along.
