The latest iteration of EA Sports’ legendary soccer franchise has landed, with fans all over the world scrambling to build the best team they can afford with their limited budgets. As with previous FIFA’s, the early stages of FIFA 22 Ultimate Team is about building the best team possible for the least amount of coins.
While the usual suspects such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr. are incredibly expensive during the first few months of FUT, there are inevitably going to be players that play brilliantly in-game while costing just a fraction of the price of players in the upper echelons.
10 Leroy Sané (84-Rated)
Sané ticks almost all of the boxes in terms of what is required to be a good winger on FIFA 22: he has an impressive 90 pace, 85 dribbling, 81 shooting, and 4-star skills. With only Serge Gnabry acting as a realistic alternative for Bundesliga right-sided midfielders, Sané is the obvious first choice due to his superior pace.
Sané is also useful for chemistry purposes, linking to a high-quality array of Bundesliga players while also getting strong links to other Bayern Munich players, such as 92-rated Robert Lewandowski.
9 Jérôme Roussillon (77-Rated)
Despite his low rating of 77, Roussillon is an effective and affordable left-back with some very desirable stats. Boasting 88 pace, 78 dribbling, 73 defending, and 73 physicality, Roussillon is a very well-rounded defender that plays very well in-game.
In addition, Roussillon gets a strong link with fellow VfL Wolfsburg teammate and much-coveted Maxence Lacroix, as well as compatriot Kingsley Coman, making for a very formidable left-side good enough to compete against any team. With no quality left-back alternatives in the Bundesliga for under 10,000 coins, Roussillon is a serious bargain.
8 Anthony Martial (81-Rated)
Despite his 3-point rating downgrade from FIFA 21, Martial still boasts an impressive selection of attributes for a striker. With 87 pace, 80 shooting, 85 dribbling, 4-star weak foot, and 4-star skills, Martial’s stats are very well-rounded compared to the other Premier League strikers of a similar price range.
As a French Manchester United player, Martial also allows managers to integrate French players from other leagues into their team, opening up the possibility of having quality players such as Kylian Mbappé or Karim Benzema in a Premier League team.
7 Georginio Wijnaldum (84-Rated)
Former Liverpool favorite Wijnaldum joins PSG’s star-studded line-up on FIFA 22, and his stats certainly do not look out of place. With 75 or above in every on-card stat, as well as high attacking and defensive work rates, Wijnaldum is one of the most well-rounded central-midfielders on the game; he is versatile enough to be used as a CAM, CM, or CDM.
Aside from his impressive stats, he also has strong chemistry links to his PSG teammates, including Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi, both of whom are certainly in vogue in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team.
6 Antonio Rüdiger (83-Rated)
Champions League-winning center-back Rüdiger receives a well-deserved upgrade in FIFA 22, making him one of the best center-backs in the Premier League. With 75 pace, 84 defending, 84 physicality, and standing at 6 foot 3 inches tall, Rüdiger is a high-quality and affordable option for any Premier League team.
In addition to his superb stats, Rüdiger also opens up the possibility of making a Premier League and Bundesliga hybrid team, thanks to his German nationality. Managers will therefore be able to augment their Premier League teams by integrating the likes of Joshua Kimmich or Leon Goretzka into their midfield.
5 Franck Yannick Kessié (84-Rated)
Not only is Kessié high-rated relative to his low price, he also has very impressive on-card and in-game stats. With 78 pace, 82 defending, 87 physicality, 94 stamina, 86 strength, and standing at 6 feet tall, Kessié is the ideal CDM.
Despite losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United, Serie A is still a great league to base a team on, and Kessié should be the cornerstone to any Serie A team. Kessié's unique blend of pace, power, and defending ability leaves him unrivaled in terms of Serie A CDMs that are effective in FIFA 22’s meta.
4 Federico Chiesa (83-Rated)
After helping Italy win the Euros, Chiesa has received a well-deserved upgrade in the latest iteration of the FIFA franchise, going from a 78 to an 83. With 91 pace, 81 shooting, 85 dribbling, 4-star skills, and 4-star weak foot, Chiesa is one of the best gold right-wingers on the game.
Managers with Chiesa in their team also benefit from his chemistry links to other Piemonte Calcio players, such as Paulo Dybala and Juan Cuadrado. His Italian nationality also opens up the possibility for links to the much-coveted PSG players via Marco Verratti, increasing Chiesa's utility even further.
3 Vinícius Júnior (80-Rated)
Real Madrid golden boy Vinícius Júnior has a very impressive card on FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, despite his relatively low rating of 80. The standout stat on his card is an electric 95 pace which, when considered in conjunction with his 87 dribbling and 5-star skills, makes Vinícius Júnior a great option for left-wing.
While there are other left-wing options in LaLiga, none are as quick as Vinícius Júnior and as with most FIFA games, having high pace on the wing is imperative. In addition, his Brazil chemistry links make Vinícius Júnior a very useful player to have.
2 Kevin Mbabu (79-Rated)
While only 79-rated, Mbabu is undoubtedly one of the most popular right-backs on FIFA Ultimate Team. Mbabu's popularity is justified by his remarkable stats, most notably his 88 pace, 80 physicality, and 74 defending. When these stats are augmented by a shadow or anchor chemistry style, Mbabu is a force to be reckoned with at the right-back position.
Managers using Mbabu will also benefit from the opportunity to form a strong chemistry link to Maxence Lacroix, who also plays for VfL Wolfsburg and is a solid option at center-back. The pair will inevitably form a formidable right-side of defense for any strike force to face.
1 Allan (83-Rated)
With the exception of N’golo Kanté, Allan is by far the best CDM in the Premier League and, for reasons that defy logic, he is attainable for less than 10,00 coins. With every on-card stat being above 70, including 82 dribbling and 80 defending, Allan is one of the most well-rounded gold midfielders in the game.
Allan’s Premier League and Brazilian links also make him highly useful, granting managers the opportunity to integrate high-quality Brazilian players from a plethora of leagues into a Premier League team.
