The Real Housewives: 10 Cast Members Who Quit, & Why | ScreenRant

When a Housewife moves on from The Real Housewives, the Bravo community soon questions whether or not the Housewife was fired or quit. Oftentimes, when a woman is let go from her position as a Housewife or is demoted to a friend of the series, Bravo gives them the opportunity to speak their piece first. This leaves the line of communication open for future opportunities on the show.

It can be hard to find out if a Housewife was fired or if she quit, but there are a handful of Housewives who have been honest about wanting to expand in other ways outside of Bravo and deny the option to come back for one reason or another.

10 Monique Samuels (RHOP)

Monique Samuels joined the women of The Real Housewives of Potomac in season 2 and hung in throughout season 5. However, after a hectic couple of seasons, Monique walked away from the series. As she said in an Instagram live, "I appreciate everything that people have done for me, everybody that's been Team Monique - I love y'all, I thank y'all - but when you cross certain lines there's no going back." Furthermore, Insider noted that Samuels also questioned Andy Cohen. After a hard season 5 reunion where Cohen wasn't receptive to Samules' apology to Candice Dillard for a fight on camera, Samuels said that Cohen "held [her] to a different standard."

9 Denise Richards (RHOBH)

Denise Richards had some great quotes and moments throughout her two seasons on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills but it wasn't enough to keep her a part of the show. While she made an entertaining Houswife, the drama surrounding her marriage and potential affair with Brandi Glanville became too much for Denise and she left the show.

When Andy Cohen asked why Richards wasn't coming back for a third season when it was rumored that she was contractually obligated to do so, he told Watch What Happens Live, "We were negotiating a deal with her and we couldn’t reach an agreement on the deal.” He continued saying, "I’m just sad we couldn't reach an agreement for next season." Denise is currently raising her three kids and working on different projects.

8 Shereé Whitfield (RHOA)

Shereé Whitfield was an original Housewife for The Real Housewives of AtlantaShe took a break from the series after season 4 but later came back as a friend and eventual Houswife for three more seasons. In season 13, Shereé popped up again as a guest in the series.

Whitfield has always been one of the more likable Real Housewives castmates for her witty one-liners and calm demeanor. After her first four seasons, Whitfield quit the series because it no longer served her. According to Life and Style Magazine, Whitfield said, "The direction the show is going in is no longer a fit for my lifestyle. I’m tired of the fighting and the cattiness." She was looking for more empowering opportunities instead of TV drama.

7 Bethenny Frankel (RHONY)

It's hard not to think of Bethenny Frankel when thinking of The Real Housewives of New York. She was an original Housewife who came from nothing and slowly built an empire off of the idea of a skinny margarita. More than that, Frankle held everyone accountable, was truly friends with the cast, and had some of the most iconic lines in the series.

Frankel has left the show a few times to focus on her other businesses but she left once and for all after season 11. According to an interview with Variety, Frankel said, "It no longer became this platform to promote my business, because I had done that, and there was more promoting sort of new and questionable businesses than the legitimate one, stress at this point." In the end, it wasn't her "platform anymore."

6 NeNe Leakes (RHOA)

NeNe Leakes is one of the most well-known faces in The Real Housewives of Atlanta universe. She was a part of the series for eight straight seasons before taking a break and coming back for three more seasons. But eventually, all good things come to an end.

Fans supported Leakes' decision to move on from the series, posted in a YouTube video. "There has been a lot of emotion flying from both sides. it has been hard and I have made the very hard and difficult decision to not be a part of Real Housewives of Atlanta season 13," she said. As amicable as it seemed, things got heated when Leakes said that Bravo "forced" her out, more or less, by not giving her the respect she deserved.

5 Lisa Vanderpump (RHOBH)

Over the years, Lisa Vanderpumpe has been seen as both the villain and the angel. For years, her castmates on RHOBH have been accusing her of selling personal stories of the women for her own benefit. And after years of accusations and arguments with her so-called friends, Vanderpump left the series.

According to Yahoo! Life, Vanderpump felt the series was too negative. She continued saying, "To be the recipient of gang-ups again? I just said, ‘Okay,’ [and] I walked away, but I did do nine and a half years. It was a long time."

4 Kim Zolciak-Biermann (RHOA)

Kim Zolciak-Biermann was one of the more entertaining members of RHOA before her timely departure. After five seasons, she left to focus on her husband, her children, and their new spinoff Don't Be Tardy. "The fighting. The stress. The gossip. The drama. I reached my boiling point," she told Bravo. She continued writing, "I have an amazing life with a great husband and awesome kids, why am I sitting here being attacked when I could be home being loved by my family." Today, Kim focuses on her own businesses while being a mother to six kids.

3 Caroline Manzo (RHONJ)

Caroline Manzo was a legendary Real Housewives of New Jersey Housewife. She was a dry, no non-sense kind of Houswife who demanded respect and was feared by most of her castmates. She was one of the more intelligent Housewives who knew how to play the game to come out on top.

After five seasons, Manzo left the franchise and never returned. According to CheatSheet, Manzo said, "You can’t work with something that doesn’t reflect your beliefs. The show became something that just didn’t reflect my beliefs or who I was as a person." And while fans miss Manzo, it's doubtful she'll be back anytime soon.

2 Tinsley Mortimer (RHONY)

Tinsley Mortimer was a fascinating addition to RHONY because of her socialite status. She was the "it girl" before Paris Hilton joined the ranks and was on every red carpet in New York. But after a fall from grace, Mortimer joined RHONY to clear her name. Over the years, Housewives like Dorinda Meadley bullied Mortimer but she always came out right on top.

But after years of wanting a husband and children, Mortimer left the show and New York behind for a new beginning with her fiance Scott in Chicago. In the show, Mortimer said this about moving to Chicago, "I have to listen to myself and what I want and nobody else."

1 Heather Dubrow (RHOC)

Actress Heather Dubrow was one of the more entertaining and honest Housewives on The Real Housewives of Orange County. But after five seasons, Dubrow left the series. She told Bravo's Daily Dish, "At this point in my life, I have decided to go in another direction and do what’s best for my family and career." Surprisingly, Heather decided to make a comeback with the upcoming season of RHOC, season 16.
