A new clip from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings reveals how Wong and Abomination's fight is introduced into the film. With the upcoming Marvel movie set to introduce an entirely new cast of characters into the MCU, much focus has been placed on Simu Liu as Marvel's Master of Kung Fu, but Shang-Chi will also factor into Phase 4 of the MCU massively. This has been teased through the introduction of the storied titular weapons (the Ten Rings) and the organization of the same name, as well as Tony Leung's the Mandarin. With the movie set to release this Friday, though, anticipation is ramping up for all the surprises in store.
One of those surprises was already revealed in one of Shang-Chi's trailers. In a caged fighting pit, Benedict Wong's sorcerer Wong can be seen fighting an unexpected character - Tim Roth's Abomination. Where Abomination has been since 2008's The Incredible Hulk is unclear and so is just how Wong ended up fighting him in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. With answers forthcoming, though, a new clip revealed just how Shang-Chi and Awkwafina's Katy will come to witness what looks to be an epic confrontation.
Courtesy of Fandango, the clip shows Shang-Chi and Katy walking through an undisclosed location. A third person is explaining to them all the fights going on around them in walled-off rooms. One particularly violent fight sees someone lodge knives into their opponent. When Katy asks if Shang-Chi is going to be fighting in one of those rooms, their guide says no and points to the chained fighting pit where Wong and Abomination can be seen facing off against one another. Check out the video below:
How much audiences will be seeing of Abomination in Shang-Chi remains unclear, but Marvel has touted the fight heavily in various clips and teasers. It seems safe to say that explanations about his presence will be forthcoming and with Abomination also appearing in Disney+'s She-Hulk, the movie may just set up how he ends up there. Until then, though, Wong will face a formidable opponent in the fighting pits.
This will also be where Shang-Chi runs into his estranged sister, finally connecting him back to his family after all his years spent away. Early reviews for Shang-Chi cited the family drama as one of the most important aspects of the film and it seems like that will factor heavily into both his relationship with his sister and his father, Wenwu. Luckily, answers are coming, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings finally hitting theaters this weekend after years in development.
