Warning! Spoilers for Captain Marvel #32 by Marvel Comics below
As Carol Danvers takes on an unknown villain wearing a familiar suit, Captain Marvel just admitted she wishes she was more like Captain America. In Captain Marvel #32 by Marvel Comics, Carol said she wished she could channel Steve Rogers during a tense fight by putting her metaphorical shield down and trusting that she could defuse the situation without needing to exchange blows.
Captain Marvel has had little chance to breathe in her current ongoing series. After being stuck in a dystopian future where most of her fellow Avengers were dead, Carol attempted to learn magic to stop Enchantress' son Ove from making the dark reality come to fruition in the present day. After defeating Ove and getting back with her boyfriend, James Rhodes, Captain Marvel seemed destined for some much-needed time off. However, superheroes rarely have the opportunity to relax as Carol is already facing off against a dangerous foe.
In Captain Marvel #32 by Kelly Thompson, Sergio Davila, Sean Parsons, Jesus Aburtov, and VC's Clayton Cowles, Captain Marvel takes to the skies to get some fresh air and fly without worrying about what attack comes next. Unfortunately, as Carol notes that nobody is shooting at her, she's hit with a blast of energy that knocks her down. When she looks up, someone inhabiting the suit Vox Supreme previously controlled her with stands above her, ready to attack. Captain Marvel immediately attacks despite not knowing who was inside the suit - as she wants to free them from being controlled. While landing a few mammoth blows, Carol realizes the mysterious villain won't go down quickly. At the moment, she wishes she was more like Captain America.
Captain Marvel wishes she could throw her shield down and just trust herself while admitting it's not the first time she wishes she was more like Captain America - and it won't be the last time. She tries to be a "little like Steve" and defuses the situation by outrunning the costumed villain. After getting chased around the planet, Captain Marvel eventually knocks out her opponent by crushing her with giant rocks.
Captain America is the hero that many others, including Captain Marvel, look up to and see as the model way to act as an Avenger. Steve Rogers always tries to see the best in people and often attempts to defuse dangerous situations before they get out of hand. In a fight against someone in a suit that previously controlled her, Carol tried her best to channel Captain America and stop her costumed opponent before it was too late. Captain Marvel #32 is in comic book stores now.
