9-1-1: The 10 Most Likable Characters | ScreenRant

Whether they're firefighters, police officers, paramedics, or emergency operators, everyone in 9-1-1 has made a commitment to help those in need. In a show comprised of first responders who put their lives on the line every episode, none of them can be considered truly unlikable.

The group of firefighters who make up Station 118 considers each other family, and most of them are married or related to those in a similar line of work. Everyone in the series has admirable qualities, but there are several characters who are particularly charming and good-natured.

10 Eddie Diaz

It's not always easy to own up to a mistake, but Eddie takes responsibility for his actions. He's done plenty of things that he isn't proud of, and there was a time in his life when he genuinely was unlikable.

What's important, is that Eddie learned and evolved, and turned into a person that anyone would be lucky to know. His ability to be an upstanding firefighter while simultaneously raising Christopher on his own displays how dedicated Eddie is to both parts of his life.

9 Howie Han (Chimney)

There's something about Chimney that makes viewers root for him. It was clear from the beginning that he had a huge capacity for love, but he struggled to find someone who matched his level of devotion.

When he started a relationship with Maddie, Chimney's happiness was contagious. He cares so much about other people that it was fulfilling to see him be cared for, in return. Chimney is the best friend anyone could ask for, yet he'd offer the same amount of care to a stranger in need.

8 May Grant

Originally, May was only relevant to the story because she was Athena's daughter. Her plotline in 9-1-1 Season 1 was emotional, but the show focused more on how it impacted her mother, rather than the long-term effects it had on May, herself.

May became a more fleshed-out character during the later seasons, and her job as an emergency operator has done wonders for her development. She's grown into her own person outside of Athena, and viewers can even feel a sense of pride at the independent woman May is becoming.

7 Bobby Nash

Bobby's backstory is so tragic that it makes his kindness and integrity even more impressive. While he was struggling with drug addiction, Bobby lost his wife and kids when the heater he left on caused a fire. There were multiple deaths in his apartment building, and he bore responsibility for all of them.

It wasn't easy to recover from, but rather than drowning in the grief, Bobby made an oath to save lives to make up for the ones he took. As captain, Bobby spends every day putting himself at risk for strangers and being a shoulder for Station 118 to lean on.

6 Maddie Buckley

It was disappointing to see Abby go, but 9-1-1 couldn't have picked a better character to replace her. The show only improved when Maddie joined, and her sibling relationship with Buck has become one of its most important aspects.

Maddie's arrival made the cast feel complete. She fits into everyone's lives so seamlessly, it's hard to remember what 9-1-1 was like without her in it. Her medical background makes her a fantastic emergency operator, and she's saved countless lives by going above and beyond.

5 Carla Price

Without Abby and her mom, there wasn't much of a reason for Carla to be in the picture. However, she's such a likable and energetic character, that the show found a way to include her. As evidenced by her job as a caretaker, Carla has a huge heart.

She might not be out fighting fires or stopping bank robberies, but she's just as much of a hero as the other characters. Carla is someone that can be trusted implicitly. She always comes through for people, and thanks to Buck, Carla has become like family to Eddie and Christopher.

4 Christopher Diaz

Eddie's son is featured heavily in the series, as their relationship is a huge part of who Eddie is. Without even trying, Christopher touches the lives of the people around him, and his courage inspired Buck during a dark period.

Christopher always has a smile on his face, and he can find the positive side of any situation. He might a kid, but when Eddie was in the hospital, Christopher was the one who stayed strong and gave Buck the comfort he needed.

3 Athena Grant

Athena makes an incredible ally and a terrifying enemy. She'll do whatever it takes for justice to be served, and the word "quit" isn't in her vocabulary. A person can't lose if they're on Athena's team, but they can't win if they're not.

She isn't as outwardly friendly as some of the other characters in 9-1-1, but Athena is just as selfless and empathetic. She's a supportive wife to Bobby, a nurturing mother to her children, and a natural-born leader.

2 Evan Buckley

Ever since the pilot episode, Buck has remained the fan-favorite. His flaws make him easy to connect to, and he has the best character arc of everyone in 9-1-1. He isn't afraid of appearing weak and faces his emotions head-on, rather than bottling them up.

Buck's calling in life is to help people, and he does so without asking for anything in return. By backing out of a lawsuit that could have resulted in a generous financial compensation, Buck proved that being a firefighter at Station 118 is more than just a job to him.

1 Henrietta Wilson

Hen is, arguably, the most well-rounded of the characters. She has consistently interesting storylines that revolve around her career, personal goals, relationship, and family life. As all the characters do, Hen slips up every now and then, which only humanizes her further.

Paramedics have a front-row seat to pain and suffering, and Hen's compassion makes her job especially difficult. However, it's proof that she's exactly where she needs to be. Hen doesn't give up on people, and she fights for them when they can't fight for themselves.
