Xbox Game Pass is receiving some weighty games in the rest of August, including Humankind, Twelve Minutes, and the long-awaited Psychonauts 2, which has gone gold. The subscription service is also adding a number of games to its Xbox Cloud gaming library, as well as classic adventure puzzle game Myst.
Some of the most significant Xbox Game Pass titles for August 2021 were previously revealed by Microsoft. The service recently announced a big day one launch title, with Humankind coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC. Humankind is a strategy game in the same vein as titles like Civilization, where the player melds together aspects of different societies and aims to be the most successful by accruing Fame earned through completing great deeds.
The official Xbox Game Pass Twitter account has revealed the lineup of new titles coming to the service this month. The long-awaited Psychonauts 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass for console, cloud, and PC on August 25. This is a psychedelic platformer puzzler, where the player uses a range of psychic powers to explore the minds of others. The month is rounded out by the classic PC puzzle game Myst, which is coming to Xbox Game Pass for console, cloud, and PC on August 26. This is a remastered version of the game, with detailed HD visuals and quality-of-life additions and improvements.
There are a couple of major Star Wars games coming to cloud gaming, as Battlefront II and Jedi: Fallen Order are now available to stream on supported devices, along with Need for Speed Heat. The suspenseful time loop thriller Twelve Minutes is coming to Xbox Game Pass for console, cloud, and PC on August 19. The game stars the vocal talents of Daisy Ridley, James McAvoy, and Willem Dafoe, whose characters are caught in a grisly cycle of death. The Metroidvania Recompile and self-explanatory Train Sim World 2 are also coming to Xbox Game Pass for console, cloud and PC on August 19.
August is another strong month for Xbox Game Pass, following on from the addition of games like Hades and Skate. This month has two considerable day one launches from third-party developers, as well as a big Xbox Game Studios title and other surprises. Myst might be pushing thirty, but it's still a fantastic game and well worth giving a look. Xbox Game Pass is set to round out an impressive month, and September is already shaping up well, as games like Aragami 2 and Sable are on the way.
