Warning: spoilers ahead for Transformers: Beast Wars #7!
Terrorsaur - Transformers: Beast Wars' equivalent to the classic Starscream - endeavors to dethrone Megatron as leader of the Predacons just like his Transformers counterpart, but the comics just gave him a new rival named Skold who he sees as an urgent threat to his plans.
Even though she was introduced in the first issue, the comics kept Skold in the shadows until Transformers: Beast Wars #7 by writer Erik Burnham and artist Winston Chan. She's still a very mysterious character, and readers only learn what little they now know of her through Terrorsaur, when he admits his fear about her capabilities to his evil ally Waspinator.
The comics portray Skold as a soft-spoken and timid Predacon who wants to prove herself to her superiors but isn't given the chance she so desperately craves. When Skold learns about a mission to resupply their Predacon ship with Energon, she speaks up but is immediately shot down. Scorponok is, at least, understanding of her plight and explains his reasoning why she must stay behind, while Terrorsaur uses this as an opportunity to slight her abilities by implying she isn't bright enough to help before laughing hysterically as he flies off without her. At first, it seems like just a cruel moment from the Machiavellian schemer, but he quickly admits his bullying has a purpose.
When Waspinator later asks why he laughed at her (and risked getting himself ripped in half), Terrorsaur divulges his reasoning by explaining that she is incredibly strong and might soon realize that she can lead, so he needs to keep Skold in her place and strip her of any confidence. Terrorsaur elaborates later that it's for the good of the cause, though it's clear that he wants to be in charge instead of her. In classic Starscream fashion, Terrorsaur plans to usurp Megatron, and he doesn't want any competition when he attempts to seize the Predacon throne.
Terrorsaur is essentially identical to his well-known counterpart Starscream, who attempts to subvert Megatron's superior strength by utilizing his cunning wit to overthrow the Decepticon leader. Terrorsaur seeks to accomplish the same goal. Other than Megatron, who either fully thwarts or successfully recovers from each of his subordinate's treacherous attempts at staging a coup, Terrorsaur's only other obstacle has always been the overly loyal and narrow-minded Scorponok, whose steadfast devotion to Megatron usually interferes with Terrorsaur's deceptive plots. But, now, the Beast Wars comics have thrown another wrench in the devious Predacon's plans, though so far she is more akin to a ticking time bomb than an active threat.
Not only will readers undoubtedly root for Skold on account of Terrorsaur's despicable and abusive behavior towards her, but Skold's character is definitely intriguing enough to serve as a more than appropriate rival, especially as it's revealed she's strong enough to "put her fist through solid duranium." Her depiction as a bullied underdog who possesses incredible potential makes her especially compelling as this will naturally cause readers to yearn for Skold to prove herself. Overly strong Transformers characters are usually brimming with confidence as well, which only further adds to Skold's appeal, and fan desire to see Terrorsaur's Starscream-style scheming blow up in his face.
