Sea Of Thieves Thanks Players For Its Most Active Month Ever

The developer of Sea of Thieves has thanked fans for the game's most active month ever. Sea of Thieves is an open-world pirate game filled with looting, sailing, and exploring, and recently released a Pirates of the Caribbean expansion entitled Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's LifeThe addition of fan-favorite movie characters such as Captain Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones have helped the game see its most successful month of all time.

Sharing the news on its website, Sea of Thieves revealed the game saw 4.8 million active players in June 2021, highlighting the success of the Pirates expansion. The figure marks a new high for the game, breaking its previous record for active monthly players. Thanking fans both new and old, executive producer Joe Neate shared the team's gratitude for the support of A Pirate's Life, adding that he hopes the DLC "was everything [players] could have wanted from a crossover on this scale." A celebratory video was also released by Sea of Thieves on Twitter, with the game's creative director Mike Chapman reiterating the team's appreciation for the game's many players. Chapman said:

"Hearing your stories and the memories that are created by playing through with your friends or playing with your family, that is absolutely invaluable to us. It means the world to us."

According to Chapman, the Sea of Thieves team is now more inspired and passionate than ever, and players can expect to see even more exciting add-ons in the future. Some fans believe a Monkey Island and Sea of Thieves crossover could be the developer's next plan, though the team at Rare has yet to reveal its next plans for the game.
