GTA Online Becomes Mario Kart With Guns In New Kart Krash Mode

This week's update for Grand Theft Auto Online introduces Kart Krash: Full Auto, an all-new racing mode that equips go-karts with weapons. Rockstar Games brought vehicles back to the forefront of GTA Online this summer, upon rolling out the Los Santos Tuners update in July.

The Summer update unlocked a suite of new features and gameplay opportunities, including additional races, 10 customizable cars, Auto Shop ownership, robbery Contracts, and the LS Car Meet. Thus far, the Car Meet has proven particularly popular amongst active Grand Theft Auto Online users, thanks in large part to its community-based aspects, which range from a Test Track and Mod Shop to Test Rides and Challenges. Some facets of the experience have quickly fallen out of favor, though, namely Contract characters KDJ and Sessanta whose over-the-top behavior sometimes proves too irksome. Fortunately, Rockstar continues to introduce new and exciting content to keep players invested.

To the delight of many a fan, the latest addition went live today in a weekly update, giving fans access to the Kart Krash: Full Auto mode. It's more or less Mario Kart with weaponized go-karts, unleashing carnage that pits players against one another in teams or "chaotic free-for-alls." The goal, according to Rockstar Newswire, centers around being the last person standing; thankfully, scattered power-ups should help users hold out a little while longer. And to sweeten the deal, all competitors can spend the next week earning 2X Reputation Points and in-game cash. The Pfister Growler counts as another new arrival, available at the Legendary Motorsport to all who can afford the $1+ million price tag.

That GTA Online continues to receive exciting content updates roughly eight years after its initial release is nothing short of impressive. Why it took so long to implement a go-kart racing mode isn't known, but Kart Krash should bring a world of fun to the already thrilling online experience.

Such updates clearly won't cease anytime soon, either. This especially holds true given the fact that Grand Theft Auto V will soon make its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with native ports scheduled to arrive this fall in mid-November.
