Crusader Kings 3 Is Coming To PS5 & Xbox Series X/S | Screen Rant

Crusader Kings 3 will be reaching a new audience in the future, as it was revealed during Gamescom 2021 that the game is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/SCrusader Kings 3 is currently available for PC, Mac, and Linux, but this will be the first time the series has made the jump to consoles.

Crusader Kings 3 is a grand strategy game where the player takes on the role of the current ruler of a dynasty, rather than as the omnipotent controller of every action in the realm, as is the case in other strategy games. Creating a Crusader Kings 3 lineage is crucial to the gameplay, as is forming strong alliances and clear lines of succession. People cannot choose their blood relatives, however, nor can they plan for their enemy's schemes, so the player cannot simply take over the world with the strength of arms alone. Crusader Kings 3 is as much about the politics of family and maintaining alliances as it is about dealing with enemies.

Console players will soon have a chance to create their own medieval dynasties and conquer the world at the head of an ax-wielding horde. Paradox Interactive announced during Gamescom 2021 that Crusader Kings 3 is being ported to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Crusader Kings 3 is currently available on the PC version of Xbox Game Pass, but it's not confirmed to be coming to the console version at the time of writing. The trailer for the game can be seen on the official Paradox Interactive YouTube channel. The port is being handled in collaboration with Lab42 and it will be fully playable with a controller.

The console versions of Crusader Kings 3 will make use of the unique features of each system. The PS5 version will have special DualSense functionality, with the controller reacting to in-game actions, while the Xbox Series X/S version will be able to quickly switch between gameplay and consulting YouTube tutorials. More importantly, the advanced hardware of the current-gen systems will allow the game to run extremely fast, which is especially significant for a strategy game that tends to have long campaigns.

The popularity of grand strategy games like Stellaris on consoles means that there's also room for Crusader Kings 3 to find a new audience. Crusader Kings 3 gives players the chance to create their own dysfunctional medieval dynasty, while also contending with unruly lords and ambitious rivals, and there's no reason why console players shouldn't also have the chance to become a king or queen.
