Below Deck: 5 Best And 5 Worst "Boatmances" | ScreenRant

Below Deck has shown Bravo fans the ins and outs of the yachting world. From the amounts of money guests spend on charters to the different levels of working on a yacht, Below Deck is just as informative as it is entertaining. What's more amusing in the show, however, are the romances that occur on the boat (better known as "boatmances").

There have been a handful of romances on various yachts throughout Below Deck and its spinoffs. But with each charter only lasting a couple of weeks, some of the relationships are short-lived and messy enough for reality TV. There are a few that prevail that fans adore, however.

10 Best: Paget & Ciara

In season 1 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, fans learned that the chief engineer, Paget, has been in a long-term relationship with a deckhand, Ciara, prior to joining the yacht. With them being in a serious relationship, they tend to join yachts as a couple, which was a first for the series.

The great thing about this couple was that they never let their relationship get in the middle of their jobs. Ciara was one of the best deckhands on that series while Paget focused on his end of the ship. Things got a little hazy for the couple with a stew admitted to having a crush on Paget but he and Ciara walked off the yacht hand-in-hand. According to US magazine, the two are no longer a couple but their boatmance was enjoyed by fans.

9 Worst: Jess & Rob

In season 5 of Below Deck Mediterranean, Jess and Rob were immediately taken by each other. As a deckhand and a stew, the two wouldn't have mingled often in their jobs but the pair made time. However, shortly after a boatmance began, their true colors were revealed.

Jess became jealous of Rob's interactions with other stews and charter guests. Her trust in him faltered even more when she found out he was texting his ex-girlfriend. Likewise, Rob was so invested in Jess that he became almost too emotional to do his job. Jess's job as a stew also declined because they were so wrapped up in each other. They fought more and more by the end of the season, and even though they left the yacht together, they've now broken up.

8 Best: Bugsy & Alex

Jess and Rob weren't the only two that hit it off in season 5, Bugsy and Alex also had a short fling. Alex fell for Bugsy from the start and slowly gained the courage to tell her how much he adored her. It took Bugsy some time to come around but she eventually admitted to having the same feelings.

Above all else, she wanted to focus on her job, but a short boatmance with Alex wasn't going to hurt. The two were loved by fans because they were able to keep things fun, flirty, and professional. It's an unpopular opinion to dislike this duo because of how casual they kept things during the season.

7 Worst: Adam & Jenna

It's not often on Below Deck where the chief stews and the chefs get along. Both jobs carry a lot of pressure, which results in both positions lashing out at each other. And while that happened between Jenna and Adam on Below Deck Sailing, they were still able to strike up a boatmance.

The only problem with this hot and heavy romance was that not everyone was on board with it. Adam and Jenna made their coworkers uncomfortable by their level of PDA. Even Captain Lee had to get involved because it began affecting their jobs. The couple was also hot and cold with each other. They would argue during their shifts and try to make up in between a hectic workday. The couple tried making things work off the yacht but, according to US magazine, they eventually broke up.

6 Best: Aesha & Jack

Aesha and Jack were one of the best pairs in the series. As a stew and a deckhand, these two loved their jobs, those they worked with, and always had smiles on their faces. With Jack living in the UK and Aesha being from New Zealand, these two had a lot against them but they dove headfirst into each other anyway.

The couple enjoyed time with friends while on the series but also went out on romantic first dates. They were adorable together and it was hard for their coworkers not to root for them. They continued dating after the series but sadly ended things when Jack left Aesha for his ex-girlfriend, according to Bravo.

5 Worst: Malia & Wes & Adam

Malia is one deckhand (now bosun) that has been on Below Deck the most, starring in three seasons. She's strong and knows how to handle some of the worst guests. It's something those that fancy her like most. And while viewers have seen her ups and downs over the years, none were like her love triangle with Wes and Adam in season 2.

Throughout most of the season, Malia was stuck between Wes and Adam. She liked both of them and didn't know who to focus on, especially with both men pulling her in different positions. The drama these three caused lasted the whole season and began affecting Adam's job since Malia and West worked on deck together. Malia eventually chose Wes and the two dated for a while before ending things, according to Starcasm.

4 Best: Ben & Emily

In season 4 of Below Deck, Chef Ben took a chance on love when he hinted at a romance with Emily. Ben has had plenty of flings during his days on Below Deck, but something was different between him and Emily. The two were smitten with each other, especially when Kate Chastain stepped in and encouraged Ben to buy Emily flowers.

Unlike a few of the other romances on this show, Emily and Ben took their time with each other and dated for a year after filming before calling it quits, according to Bravo. It's unique workplace relationships like the ones on Below Deck that separate themselves from other shows.

3 Worst: Dani & JL

Dani and Jean-Luc (also known as JL) appeared on season 2 of Below Deck Sailing. At first, fans were shipping this couple because of how much they liked each other, but things soon changed. Dani was a little older than JL and was ready for marriage and babies. JL, on the other hand, really liked Dani but wasn't sure if he was ready for that kind of commitment. The two were honest with each other but couldn't stay away. And if there's one thing the show teaches viewers about yachting, it's to not get into a boatmance. The couple went down in flames was after the season.

Thanks to social media, Dani revealed that she was pregnant and said that JL was the father. JL, however, noted that he wanted a paternity test, which he has yet to do, according to Cheatsheet. Because of his treatment of Dani during her pregnancy and birth, fans (and former coworkers) have gone against this couple.

2 Best: Brooke & João

As a lead deckhand, João had a lot to learn when it came to getting to know Captain Sandy. But once he became comfortable with his job, he began to let loose with the crew — including Brooke. The pair had a unique bond from the start and had a great relationship with the crew. And even though Collin had a crush on Brooke as well, she chose João.

The two were smitten with each other but never let it affect their job, which fans respect. The pair continued dating after filming stopped but eventually broke up. According to Bravo, João claimed Brooke broke his heart when she cheated on him.

1 Worst: Eddie & Rocky

In season 3 of Below Deck, Rocky admitted that she found Eddie, the bosun, attractive. But after hearing that he was in a long-term relationship, she stepped away from flirting. Instead, it was Eddie who made advances towards Rocky, which led to a secret affair between the two.

When the crew eventually found out, Eddie denied it and called Rocky a liar, even though the cameras had every interaction on tape. The way he treated Rocky during their time onboard was ruthless and made Rocky feel less than.
